Chik-fil-a orders are due on Monday.  Students not ordering Chick-fil-a will need  to PACK  lunch, on Friday.  Farm Basket  will not be serving lunch.  



Catholic Schools Week (Sunday-Friday) January 26-31

Sunday:

Students should wear uniforms to church to receive a free dress day on Monday, Feb. 3 (this applies to children of all faiths to wear to Sunday services.) Selected families will speak on behalf of Holy Cross School at our supporting parishes.

Monday:Student Appreciation Day

Whole School Liturgy 10:15 a.m. in gym (Father Jim Gallagher)

Free ice cream at lunch

No Homework Night

Tuesday:Scholars Day

Catholic Schools Week Gift to our Scholars in Homerooms

Spelling Bee for grades 5-8 at 8:30 a.m. in cafeteria

Open House at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Wednesday:Teacher/Staff/Priest Appreciation Day

PTO sponsors lunch for Teachers/Staff/Priests - Conference Room 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Thursday: Prayer Partner Day

All students meet with prayer partners to make cards for Meals on Wheels

(Snowman Soup: hot chocolate and cookies in cafeteria for each class)

PreK and Kindergarten Day Open House at 10 a.m.

Friday:Green and White Day

Students show their Gael pride and wear green and white to school!

Special Lunch: Chick-fil-a Day

Handicapped Parking:
  School Board Member, Steve Luther, will be helping us paint spaces reserved for handicapped parking in the near future.  Please respect the rules of using these spaces so that those in need always have access to them. 


Community,
We are sad to share that Fr. McElenney died last Friday.  A visitation in scheduled for 7 pm on Tuesday, Jan 28 at Our Lady of Peace in Appomattox.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan 29 at noon at St. Thomas More.


Jersey Mike's Night

The Middle School girls basketball team is sponsoring a Jersey Mike's Night  (next to the Fresh Market on Lakeside Drive) on Wednesday, January 29th from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M.  We will earn 15% of all purchases.  Please come out to support the team!  Go Gaels! 

READING INCENTIVE NEWS FROM MRS. MAIN

 

READ ACROSS AMERICA: We are pleased to announce that Holy Cross elementary students have been invited once again to participate in the Sylvan Learning Reading incentive which runs through the month of February and concludes with "Read across America day" on Monday, March 3rd. An explanation with specifics and a reading log will be sent home this Friday, Jan. 31st. Sylvan Learning Center provides a prize to top readers in grades 1-4, including a new bicycle for one lucky winner. All who participate will earn a free dress day and trip to Mrs. Main's treasure chest when we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 3rd. Stay tuned for more details!

 

ACCELERATED READER:

Students in grades 1-5 are continuing to participate in the Accelerated Reader program and are doing an awesome job! Just a reminder: The complete Accelerated Reader list is now on Renweb . (Click on Resource Documents, then Accelerated Reader) If you would like a hard copy of the list, see Mrs.Main and she will give you one!
