Christmas Wishes from Mrs. Culbreth
Dear HC Families,
In this very busy Advent season, I want to be sure to take a moment to wish all of you a very blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year! I am so grateful we have such a supportive community to celebrate the many talents of our students and the dedication of our faculty. As the Angel in St. Luke shares, "I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people." Each day at Holy Cross we share good news and great joy, but particularly at Christmas, we celebrate our many blessings and our Savior, Jesus. Enjoy the holidays with family and friends!

Please look at the RenWeb calendar for the latest news on sporting events; paper copies handed out earlier in the season will not reflect recent changes.
There will be no MS/HS Study Hall during exam week. Students and parents should arrange for transportation directly after school on these
1:35 dismissal days.

Holy Cross Gaelgos Participate in State-wide FIRST LEGO League Competition
Holy Cross Gaelgos Participate in State-wide FIRST LEGO League Competition
The Holy Cross "Gaelgos" were selected to compete in the statewide FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition in Harrisonburg the weekend of December 7-8. FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. With the theme NATURE'S FURY, teams were tasked with building, testing, and programming an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. They were also challenged to choose and solve a real world problem in the project, and our Gaelgos selected to research building special bunkers as a safety measure in the event of an F5 Tornado.
Thanks to Karl Rony, Dave Dumonsau and Cat Mosley for coaching this season and to all the parents who supported the team throughout the season. Holy Cross is considering starting a Jr. FIRST LEGO League team for 6-9 year olds this spring. If you are interested, please contact Catherine Mosley at mosley_c@hcrs.org.

From Mrs. Main in the library,
Christmas wish tree program. It's not too late if you are interested in donating a book the library in honor of a teacher, or anyone, or in memory of a loved one. Send me an e-mail as main_h@hcrs-va.org and I will work with you on selecting a book title. We order the books from our library company so you don't have to purchase it.
Thank you! I want to take a moment to thank our Holy Cross families for all of the support of our library programs recently, including the Scholastic Book Fair, the Barnes and Noble fair, and the Christmas wish list program. All of these programs allow us to add books and other materials to the library media centers.
Thank you to the volunteers that helped with the Breakfast with Santa. Thanks to all the kids that helped the vendors and worked the event. If you volunteered in any capacity Thank You! A special Thank You to Cathleen Fallon and her kitchen staff for making the breakfast a success. Thank you Daphne & Elizabeth Taylor for doing an awesome job with the Santa Shoppe. Thank you Dallas Mata for recruiting your Marine Poolies to help Friday get us ready for the event. Thank you Julia Wingfield who had countless jobs and did them all with a smile. And thank you to Jay and Jan Mata for all of their hard work in getting the event organized.
