New Director of Enrollment/Marketing Named

We are happy to report that Catherine Mosley has accepted the position as our new Director of Enrollment and Marketing.  Catherine's most recent job postings have been as Communications Officer/Program Director for Region 2000 Economic Development Council as well as serving as an adjunct professor at Sweet Briar College teaching Fundamentals of Marketing with an emphasis on social media strategies.  Catherine holds a B.A. degree in English from Wake Forest University.  Her son, Luke, is a proud member of our fourth grade class at Holy Cross School.  Catherine comes to us with exciting new ideas to spread the wonderful news of our school to the greater community.  She will begin in mid-December.  Please give Catherine a wonderful Gaels' welcome when she arrives!

We give special thanks to Deirdre Serio for her commitment and professionalism as our Interim Director.  Deirdre has allowed us to move forward seamlessly, and we are grateful to her for her many talents.  Deirdre took on the role with great enthusiasm and was willing to lend a hand in many areas of school life.  Thank you, Deirdre, for your love of Holy Cross School!

A reminder that Holy Cross School will be CLOSED Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday!  We hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Library Media Center news from Mrs. Main

Scholastic Book Fair - Thanks to the wonderful support of Holy Cross families, the Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. We profited $750.00 from the fair, some of which will be exchanged for Scholastic books half price for the library!

Barnes & Noble Fair- The annual Barnes & Noble fair (December 7th-Dec.12th) provides Holy Cross School an opportunity to earn funds while our families and friends shop at any Barnes and Noble or on line. The good news is that we can spread the word to anyone and everyone we know to mention Holy Cross School when they shop on those dates at the local store, or use our Bookfair ID#11190329 when they shop online or at another location. Also, all purchases in the store count towards our fair! Even the café purchases!

On Saturday, Dec. 7th, 12:30-2:00, we will host story time, and bookmark crafts, as well as a small concert by our elementary students who will sing a few songs from their upcoming Christmas program @1:00. Please come out on that day to the Barnes and Noble on Wards Rd. and register to win a Barnes & Noble gift card!

Christmas Wish List- Each year, we put together a wish list of books that we would like to add to the library media center. Families have an opportunity to donate one of the titles in honor of a teacher, staff, child, etc., or in memory of a loved one. This year, the titles will be on little packages under the Chrisman tree in the lobby. If you wish to participate in this, simply pick a star from the package under the tree, fill out the back and return it to the office or to Mrs. Main in the library with cash or check made out to Holy Cross. Do not purchase the book. We will order them and place a bookplate revealing the donor's and the honored individual's name in each book when it arrives. This program allows you to give a gift that lasts for years and years and helps add to our collection of books in the library. The tree will be ready by Breakfast with Santa! Contact Mrs. Main if you have any questions! main_h@hcrs-va.org

HS Dinner Theatre December 8

Plan to attend the HS Dinner Theatre presentation of the one-act play, Cyrano de Bergerac on Sunday, December 8 (note date change).   Regarded as one of the greatest dramas ever written, this story of the silver-tongued soldier whose unfortunate looks drive him to woo his love by speaking for his handsome but dull-witted rival is beloved around the world.  You will laugh and cry -- don't miss this event.  Click on this flyer for more details:  Cyrano Dinner Theatre Form
