Crismons Materials Needed

The fine Arts department is starting a new tradition this Christmas. Our elementary students will be creating Crismons ( Christian Ornaments) The ornaments will hang on a tree in the lobby during the holidays. We have a tree, but we are in need of the following items to get started this year: gold glitter, gold thread, mod podge, stiffened white felt sheets. Students will begin making these ornaments right after Halloween.   Please contact Mrs. Pociluyko with any questions or donations.

High School Oktoberfest

High School students will celebrate Oktoberfest this year on

Wednesday, October 30, from 12:10-3:10 pm.  Students will meet in the gym and eat lunch from Little Caesar's pizza and have a soft drink ($5.00 each).  After lunch, students will enjoy class competitions in volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee and tug-of-war.

Seniors will wear green & white shirts; Juniors will wear pink; Sophomores wear blue and Freshmen wear red.  Students may wear jeans or athletic sweat pants.  Shorts may be worn only if they meet the school rule of no more than 3 inches above the knee.  No short-shorts!

Bells will ring on a "Half-Day Schedule."

Many thanks to the High School Student Action Council for planning this year's Oktoberfest!  Go Gaels!

Middle School Movie Day

October 30th
will be our annual middle school "movie day".  Middle school students will follow a half day schedule with 8th period ending at 12:10.  After lunch in the cafeteria, students watch one of the three feature presentations while enjoying delicious snacks brought from home.  See homeroom teacher for sign up.

Elementary Halloween Traditions at Holy Cross School
All of our ghosts, princesses, presidents, ninjas, astronauts, and other costumed students will parade around our front sidewalk at 12:30 on October 31st while parents ready their decorated trunks full of treats for the students.  After the parade, grades will take turns visiting the spooktacular trunks, pinning the nose on the witch, or trying to bite a donut hanging from a string with no hands!  As always family members and special friends are welcome to join us as we celebrate!

Online Directory!
Please note that our online directory is now available on RenWeb.  Please use this online tool if you need to find contact information for our families. We ask that you use this information carefully as it is meant as an internal tool only and not for publication.  Information for those families who opted out of the directory will not be accessible through RenWeb.  Thanks to all for "going green" as we move our directory to an online source.

HS Dinner Theatre November 8

Plan to attend the HS Dinner Theatre presentation of the one-act play, Cyrano de Bergerac on Friday, November 8.   Regarded as one of the greatest dramas ever written, this story of the silver-tongued soldier whose unfortunate looks drive him to woo his love by speaking for his handsome but dull-witted rival is beloved around the world.  You will laugh and cry -- don't miss this event.  Click on this flyer for more details:  Cyrano Dinner Theatre

Save the Date!
Our annual Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday, December 7, and we will need your help.  Please consider volunteering when you receive an email from a PTO member.  Once you see this date on your Facebook page, join in and make sure all of your friends see it!  We have 43 vendors so far this year for the bazaar and our goal is to have 70.  Our Santa Shop will be open for children to shop for family members.  There will be lots of pancakes, crafts, face painting, and Santa will stop by as he always does!  Hope to see you there!

NEED A NEW FLAT SCREEN TV?
PTO is selling raffle tickets for a 32' Haier LED flat-screen television with PC input.  Tickets are $2 each and the winning ticket will be drawn at Breakfast with Santa (need not be present to win).  See Steve or Sarah Luther, Julia Wingfield, or Fran Harvey to purchase your tickets starting today!

Shoe Drive through November 8
Elementary is sponsoring a "Shoe Drive" starting Monday, October 14th and ending on November 8th here at Holy Cross. We will be collecting USED footwear, (casual, dress, boots, sandals, etc.) in an effort to recycle and help third world countries. A box will be placed in the front foyer where shoes can be deposited during school hours. The shoes will be collected at the end of the school day on Friday, November 8th. Please consider cleaning out your closets as you put away your summer clothing. These shoes can be in ANY condition as they will be repaired before shipping.

Community Helpers
Third grade visited Madison Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 23, and helped pack 101 bags of food for the church's weekly ministry project.  Before heading to the church, they visited Walmart and shopped for items for the ministry.  Each group had a certain amount to spend so they also got lessons in Math and Economics as they rounded prices and tried to get the best deal.  Thanks to the parents who were able to come along.
