As we wind down the year, I want to take a moment and thank our families for their commitment to our school. I thank you for entrusting us with your most precious blessings, your children. Holy Cross School is an amazing place - and I am pleased you believe that as well. We have talented students, dedicated teachers, rigorous academics, and incredible extra-curricular opportunities - all founded on our Christian values and belief in community. I wish all of you a wonderful summer, a time for rest and rejuvenation. May God bless you with a safe and enjoyable summer.
Would you like to see our student body grow with incredible young people who will add so much to our community? Please consider hosting an international student for the school year. Our families who have hosted will be happy to share their wonderful experiences. We have many students "on a waiting list" and hoping to have a HC family welcome them in! For more information, please contact Amy Lawson right away!

Laura Wingfield, daughter of George and Julia Wingfield, was selected by the faculty to receive the Theater Arts award presented to seniors in area schools by the Optimist Club of Lynchburg. Starting as a Lost Boy in 7th grade, Laura went on to play Frenchy in Grease, Juliet in the Seussification of Romeo and Juliet, two roles in the original production of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles, and the teacher/Pat in The Test. Laura also was assistant director for the Elementary/Middle school production of Beauty and the Beast where she was thrown onstage at the last minute to fill in for a spoon! Congratulations, Laura!

Elementary Summer Reading 2013- "Read around the world"
It's that time of year once again. Everyone is excited about school ending and summer arriving. At Holy Cross School, we believe that our students should be sure that reading is part of their summer routine. Studies show that reading helps prevent the "summer slide" and keeps kids' brains sharp.
Students entering grades PK- 5th grade will receive a copy of our summer reading recommendation and reading logs on Monday, June 3rd. Please keep these in a safe place for the summer. Upon returning to school in August, students will turn in their logs and earn a ticket to our "Read around the world/International Day". If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Main!! Electronics Recycling Fundraiser
Clean out your old electronics and computer hardware now! Help our school raise money by bringing in your old computers, dvd players, keyboards, laptops, printers, cameras, cell phones, fax machines, modems, routers, etc. Electric cords and cables are particularly valuable for recycling due to their copper content, so please also send them in. We can NOT recycle big old CRT tube monitors or televisions, but you can take them to Goodwill and they will recycle them for you. Please bring in all equipment by the end of school.
