Jesus said ..., "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  John 11:25-26

As we enter Holy Week, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and the promise of new life!  What a great school we have in Holy  Cross where we can be our very best in faith, academics, character and service. I wish all our families a very Blessed Easter and an enjoyable Spring Break.

                           Excellence in Music Award
On Thursday, March 21st, James O'Connell was recognized for The Optimist Club's Excellence in Music Award.  He, his mother, and Mrs. Barnes attended a lunch honoring other musicians in Lynchburg.  The program is designed to recognize middle school students for their talent and contributions in music, either playing a musical instrument, singing or both. Way to go, James!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Main who has been named the Bank of the James' Ron Dolan Citizenship Award winner for Holy Cross Regional Catholic School.  Elizabeth and her parents will be honored at an awards event later this spring.  Congratulations !

Key Club News

We were able to raise $161 for the March of Dimes from our Bake Sale on Thursday!! We are offering a tremendous thank you to everyone who helped with baking goods, buying them, and selling our yummy treats.  We will continue to have the container in the cafeteria for anyone who would like to make cash donations.

We participated in the Lynchburg City March on Litter on Saturday morning. Thank you to all of the wonderful students [and Mrs. Maddox] who got up early and helped to pick up litter on a chilly Saturday morning!  We were able to make a difference in our community by collecting MANY bags of trash in the Lynchburg area!!  This is another example of how awesome Holy Cross students are!!!

We will continue our support of the March of Dimes in April [Saturday, April 20th] by participating in the March for Babies.  Please consider helping us with this important cause.  You can sign up to walk with us, sponsor our team, or simply make a donation.  Please go to the following website for our Holy Cross School Key Club Team to help us:

From Mrs. Main in the library:

CONGRATULATIONS to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who were the top readers in their class for the Sylvan Learning Center reading incentive during the month of February. They were awarded certificates and other prizes by the director of Sylvan in Lynchburg, Bob Morgan, at a ceremony this past week. Ashley Laneve, 5th grade, was the top reader in the elementary school and received a $25.00 gift certificate to Little Dickens/Givens Books. All three 1st place winners received gift certificates as well, and Matthieu Peralta, 4th grade, was the winner of the new bicycle given by Sylvan!
