Spring Spirit Wear Sale Extended to Wednesday!  Wouldn't you love to have a Gael duffel bag?  A cool visor or hat?  Or what about a snazzy HC polo shirt?  Did you know that the sweat and yoga pants are fleece lined - super comfy for those cooler days and nights.  After Wednesday, we won't be having another sale until next Fall.  Stock up and support the Gaels!

Forensics News

Well done to all of the Gaels who competed at last weekend's VCFL State Championship; our five competitors, including Meghann Hansen, Daniel Casker, Maddy Brewer, Gabie Braxton and Lexi Quinn competed against the best of the best. 

Special Congratulations go to Lexi Quinn for taking 3rd place in Oral Interpretation and to Gabie Braxton and Maddy Brewer for placing 4th in Public Forum at the Virginia Catholic Forensics League State Championships and National Qualifier.  Lexi, Maddy and Gabie are eligible to compete at the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Championship in Philadelphia on May 25-26th.

All members of the HCRS Forensics Team are eligible to compete at the National Forensics League State Qualifier on April 12-13th in Culpeper.

The Holy Cross Reg. School Jr and Sr Honors Societies will be taking orders for Ghirardelli Easter and regular chocolate from Feb 28 to March 12. We are raising funds for Interfaith Outreach Association. This organization is local and helps takes care of the homeless, those just getting out of jail, and many other local programs. Please order from a NJHS or NHS member (download form on link below) or see the order form in the office. The orders will be delivered on or before March 25th.. Payment is due then or at the time of ordering. Please makes checks out to Holy Cross Reg. School. Thanks for Your Support!

Dear families,

We recently learned that we will be welcoming an Italian exchange student, Carla, for next school year who will be in the junior or senior class.  In order for this young woman to enroll, we need to find a host family.  If you are interested in hosting her, please let me know as soon as possible so we can begin expediting the process through her agency.  Hosting a student is a wonderful experience - for you, your family, and the student.  Please let me know how I can assist with your questions.

Save-the-Date:  Grandparents' Day 2013!

Our annual Grandparents' Day celebration will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Please make sure that you have added all grandparent information (names and addresses) into RenWeb as this is the list we'll use for our mailing.

Key Club Bake Sale  

The Holy Cross Key Club is sponsoring a bake sale to raise funds for the March of Dimes on Thursday, March 21st during the elementary and middle/high school lunches.  We will also have a container, next to the cash register, to collect spare change during all lunches for the month of March, beginning Monday-March 18th.  If some of you gave up sweets for Lent, then please help us with a donation!!  We have set a school-wide goal to raise $250.

Please help us with this important fundraiser.  The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.  The March of Dimes provides mothers, pregnant women and women of childbearing age with educational resources on baby health, pregnancy, and new motherhood, as well as supplying information and support to families affected by prematurity, birth defects, or other infant health problems.

The Elementary Student Government will be sponsoring a Cici's Pizza Night on Tuesday, March 19th from 4 PM - 9 PM.  We had another great turnout.  Way to go, Gaels!  We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you.  

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS CELEBRATE FEBRUARY READING/

DR. SEUSS'S BIRTHDAY

 

Elementary students celebrated meeting their February reading goal, along with Dr. Seuss's birthday on Friday, March 8th. As part of the celebration, the students had cupcakes, received prizes and watched some favorite Dr. Seuss stories on DVD during library time. Thank you so much to all of the parents who donated delicious cupcakes or drinks for our fun Friday.

 

We are so proud of all of the reading that our students did. Here are the facts:

 

Students in Pre-K through 1st grade read 491 books.

Students in 2nd grade read 13,706 minutes

Students in 3rd-5th grade read 38,531 pages
