Dear Parents:
As we enter 2013, it is hard to believe it is time to register for next fall! Early spring re-registration enables us to make class, program, and sports changes over the spring and summer to meet the needs of the new and returning students. It also allows families ample time to meet the FACTS, Inc. financial aid application deadline of March 1. Thank you for meeting the re-registration deadlines to help the faculty, staff, and School Board reach their goals on behalf of our students.
Your re-registration information is available on RenWeb and as a link on the left side of this E-Crossette and includes updated information regarding registration, tuition, fees, and financial aid. Our re-registration process is a bit different this year as we are moving towards fully utilizing RenWeb for our enrollment needs. Please note the steps you will need to complete on your Re-Registration Form.
You will note that our tuition is increased by $200 across the board as costs to run the school continue to increase. We are working hard to keep costs to a minimum during these challenging economic times. Please submit your Re-Registration Form and deposit as soon as possible to Amy Lawson, Director of Enrollment.
Holy Cross has so much to offer our students. An elementary program builds a firm foundation in reading and math while offering exploratory learning in PE, computers, library, foreign languages, art and music. Our Middle School continues to build on this foundation and begins to challenge our students with high school credits. The High School prepares students for success in college with 100% of our graduates moving on to higher education, often with AP and dual-enrollment credits. What I am to be, I am now becoming!
Thank you for a great year. We enjoy serving you in our roles directing this fine institution.

From Mrs. Main in the library:
Our February reading incentive for elementary students is underway! We will join with students throughout the country in the 'Read Across America' program. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade are keeping track of their reading this month, and each classroom has its own minimum goal for kids to reach. (See the information that came home in Friday folders. It contains a reading log or calendar that is specific for each grade.)
Students in grades 3-5 are also part of a contest sponsored by Sylvan Learning Center in conjunction with "Read across America". Sylvan will award prizes to the overall top reader in grades 3-5 and to the top one in each of those classrooms. Each classroom winner stands a chance of winning a new bike!
Students need to turn in their calendars/records on Friday, March 1st. All elementary students will celebrate our month of reading with a "Dr. Seuss birthday party" on Monday, March 4th. Stay tuned for more details and please feel free to contact me with any questions! main_h@hcrs-va.org

You Can Make a Difference for Our School with Box Tops!
This year we are changing our program. If we meet our goal of $2000.00 we will all come together to celebrate. The PTO will have a pizza party and fun family event. We will have one for the elementary and one for the middle/high school. If you send in a bag of 50 trimmed Box Tops with your child's name on the bag your child will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 Gift Card from Game Stop. This is the easiest way to raise money for our school. Every Box Top counts. Please put all your Box Tops in the collection box in the lobby. So far we have collected $750.00 in Box Tops. We are still $1200.00 short of our goal. The last day to send in your Box Tops is Feb 14th.
The Holy Cross PTO will be holding its annual yard sale on March 9th. Please clean out your closets and bring your items to the school. The Pod in the front of the school will be open during school hours. Please put your items in the back of the pod. If you need to have the pod open on Saturday please contact Steve Luther to schedule a time.
While you are cleaning out for the yard sale, be on the lookout for old electronic items such as computers and all computer hardware, televisions, phones, fax machines, modems, stereos, tape players etc. We particularly would like old power cords, as they contain valuable copper. We are planning on having an ELECTRONICS RECYCLING FUNDRAISER after spring break. More details later.
SAVE THE DATE!! Middle School Etiquette Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 2.
