ATHLETICS MEETING

Dear Parents,

After much internal discussion with our coaches, our Athletics Department is considering a move to the VACA League.  This change would allow us to compete with schools our size and who do not recruit.  This change would allow us to be fierce competitors in athletics.  We would continue to have some flexibility in scheduling games out of the conference so that we can keep some of our traditional rivalries.  If you are interested to know more about this prospective change or would like to give your input, please plan on attending a Parent Meeting on Tuesday, January 29 at 6:30 pm in the MS Science Lab (NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!) The meeting facilitator will be Mr. Tony Mitchell, our Athletic Director.

Thank you,

Patti Culbreth

You Can Make a Difference for Our School with Box Tops!

This year we are changing our program. If we meet our goal of $2000.00 we will all come together to celebrate. The PTO will have a pizza party and fun family event. We will have one for the elementary and one for the middle/high school.  If you send in a bag of 50 trimmed Box Tops with your child's name on the bag your child will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 Gift Card from Game Stop. This is the easiest way to raise money for our school. Every Box Top counts. Please put all your Box Tops in the collection box in the lobby. So far we have collected $750.00 in Box Tops. We are still $1200.00 short of our goal. The last day to send in your Box Tops is Feb 14th.

The Holy Cross PTO will be holding its annual yard sale on March 9th.  Please clean out your closets and bring your items to the school. The Pod in the front of the school will be open during school hours. Please put your items in the back of the pod. If you need to have the pod open on Saturday please contact Steve Luther to schedule a time.

While you are cleaning out for the yard sale, be on the lookout for old electronic items such as computers and all computer hardware, televisions, phones, fax machines, modems, stereos, tape players etc.  We particularly would like old power cords, as they contain valuable copper.  We are planning on having an ELECTRONICS RECYCLING FUNDRAISER after spring break.  More details later.

SAVE THE DATE!!  Middle School Etiquette Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 2.

From Mrs. Main in the library:

Elementary students at Holy Cross School will once again participate in a reading incentive for the month of February, culminating on March 2, "Read across America Day." (Also known as Dr. Seuss's birthday) All students will be asked to read a minimum number of books or pages to be a part of the celebration. Each grade will have its own goal. Students in grades 3-5 will also have a chance to win prizes from Sylvan Learning Center, including a possible bike, and some gift cards for the highest reader in each class. Details and a reading log will be sent home this week so please check folders! Contact Mrs. Main if you have any questions: main_h@hcrs-va.org
