Welcome New Students!
We are pleased to welcome two new students to our Holy Cross  family. Soliana Addison is joining us in the 1st grade and her parents, Keith and Aberach, are looking forward to becoming members of our school community. Soliana comes to us from Desmond T. Doss Academy. We are also welcoming Sohyun Park, 10th grade, who is coming to us all the way from Korea. Her guardians are Ohhwan and Freedman Kim are excited to have Sohyun living with them and studying at our wonderful school.
Please extend a BIG Gael welcome to these new families as you see them at events!

Pre-K and Kindergarten Enrollment for 2013-14: Applications for admission are now being accepted for new students in our pre-k and kindergarten classes. Current families with children already enrolled in our current pre-k and kindergarten classes do not have to reapply for the next grade level. You will receive your re-enrollment information in early February.
If you have a child who does not currently attend Holy Cross and wishes to enroll in one of these classes for next school year, please obtain an application for admission from Amy Lawson, Director of Enrollment & Marketing. The application deadline is February 1st in order to be assessed in mid-February.
Upcoming events for prospective Pre-K and K families - Winter Open House on Tuesday, January 29th at 5:00 p.m. and our annual "K Day" celebration on Thursday, January 31st. More information coming soon!

Book, Bake and Yard Sale 
St. Thomas More is having a HUGE book, bake and yard sale Saturday, January 19 from 7am to 7pm. The sale is to help pay teacher salaries for the schools in Savanette, Haiti. If anyone has items they would like to donate please bring them to the church anytime during office hours Monday - Friday 9am to 4:30pm. If this is not convenient please call the church 237-5911 and someone will meet you there or will come to your home and pick up donated items.
 CHRISTMAS WISH LIST TREE Thank you so much to those who donated a book to the library in honor of a teacher or loved one. We have ordered the books, but there are some missing titles that were taken from the tree and not returned. If you have one of these, please return it to school to Mrs. Main or the front office with the money. It's not too late! BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR Thank you to all of the families who made our Barnes & Noble Fair a success. Because of your support, we have been issued a B&N gift card for $600.00 which will be used to purchase books and a few prizes for the Accelerated Reader store. Our fair was a big success! Thanks again!  Free Vision Screening
Holy Cross is working with Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic, and
we will be conducting a free vision screening for our students on Tuesday, February 12th. The screening is set up primarily for students in grades PK, K, 3, 7 and 10th. However, any student who you feel may have a possible vision problem can also be screened, regardless of their age or grade. Please contact Fran Harvey by email at harvey_f@hcrs-va.org to set up testing for your child.
