Thanks to all who attended last weekend's First Annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off.  It was a wonderful fall day with good food, great band, fun activities for the children and wonderful camaraderie.  We are already making plans for next year since it was such a wonderful success:  be sure to save the first Saturday in November to attend!  We are so proud of our chili team winners: Hottest -- Westminster Canterbury; Most Unique --Marny-Barnes; Bon Apetit! -- Adams Family; Gaels' Favorite -- the HCSchool Gaels' Team.  Congratulations to all ten of our participants on delicious offerings.

Attention parents who wish to enroll a child in Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year

It's time to begin thinking about next school year and welcoming our new class of Pre-K and Kindergarten students!  If you have a child interested in enrolling for next school year, please be sure to review the letter sent home in each elementary school student's Friday folder.  If you did not receive a letter, please contact Amy Lawson in Admissions at lawson_a@hcrs-va.org and she will send you a copy of the information.

Hosts Needed!

Consider hosting an exchange student January through June 2013

If you're interested in learning more about what it takes to host a student, please contact Amy and she can put you in touch with several families at Holy Cross School who have served as hosts and can share their experience with you.

Elementary/Middle School Drama Club Poinsettia Sale
PoinsettiaIt's hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner and that means that it is time for our annual Poinsettia sale.  Our beautiful plants come from Nelson's Garden Center in Forest, their color is bright, blooms are gorgeous, and they are definitely a decorative piece to include in your holiday decorating.  This is our one big fundraiser to help defer the cost of our spring show.  So, we are asking for your support.  Plants will be delivered the first week of December.  Attached is our order form!!

Planning for PTO Breakfast

For anyone that wants to help with the PTO Breakfast we will be meeting on Nov 14th at 5:30pm to finalize our plans. This will take the place of our regular PTO meeting. All PTO Board members need to attend.

This week in kindergarten...
We learned about hibernation and migration. We brought in teddy bears, had to sniff around the room to find food (popcorn) to eat before we could hibernate for the winter. After we found our food, we enjoyed it with our teddy bears in our cave. Then we hibernated during Rest time. It was just another fun day in Kindergarten!
