Look Who's New | |
The Villas Downtown project completed by developer Gardner Capital in 2012 combined the renovation of historic properties with a new housing community on Excelsior Street. The development is owned and managed by Mid American Management, a Springfield, Mo., company, who joined the Chamber in April 2013 to be a part of Excelsior Springs happenings and support the city.
Working to capture the historic character and history of the neighborhood, this housing project has a zero lot line appearance, much like the homes that were built in the early 1900s. This housing redevelopment project consists of 30 single-family homes and 12 restored historic apartments, ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Having incorporated several exterior elevations and historic color pallets, the result is an attractive neighborhood that lies contiguous to the retail/tourist destinations found on Broadway, as well as one of the city's crown jewels -- being the Hall of Waters.
"We hope residents and visitors alike will be taken back to the charm, craftsmanship and vitality of decades past," said Cindy Morton, property manager.

Business of the Month -
Special Delivery Cloth Diaper Service
Special Delivery Cloth Diaper Service is a business 10 years in the making. "My hope has been to provide great service and products just as my babies had in Minneapolis. Weekly pickup and delivery for only $20 makes it affordable for all. Everything is in place to diaper the babies here locally and all the surrounding areas, even Kansas City," said Sherie Roder, business owner. "Our shop has gifts, supplies for diapering, clothes and surprises to discover. We are the only cloth diaper service in KC. Cloth is the best choice!!!" Sherie joined the Chamber when member Gary Sanson was helping her with electrical work in the baby store and suggested she check out the Chamber. She joined the next day. Sherie looks forward to networking and learning from other business owners.
