Excelsior Springs Community Christmas Celebration
November 17, 2012
Come and experience Excelsior Springs, MO a very small but unique town. Each year we come together to kick off the holiday season; this year our special focus is "The Child in All of Us" ! Our shops, restaurants and boutiques will welcome holiday shoppers with a special open house as the streets fill with the amazing sights, sounds and tastes of our Community Christmas Celebration.
The sparkle and splendor is breathtaking, as the community shows over 30 Christmas trees in the historic Hall of Waters. Children will be creating gifts; there's live entertainment, a lighted parade, pictures with Santa, the lighting of the Mayor's tree and courtyard, refreshments and more ! Top the evening off with a horse-drawn carriage ride and drive through an enchanted forest of lights at the nearby Lane of Lights. The specifics are below or you can visit our website at

Look Who's New | |
Wayne Else and LaNeita Rehkop, owners of Paw Spaw Pet Grooming, grew up in the area and moved away for 10 plus years. About a year ago they moved back to the community. Wayne is a construction safety consultant working by private contractor. Neita has 10 years experience as a pet groomer. "Neita's dream has always been to have her own shop," said Wayne. "So when we moved back a year ago, we did just that." The new business, Paw Spaw, opened at 459 S. Thompson Ave., downtown, the first of July. "We have only been open for one month and we have met many members of the community. We have had a very optimistic and positive attitude from everybody," said Wayne. The couple joined the Chamber in June to become an active part of the business community. "We look forward to becoming a vibrant and growing business, participating in community events as volunteers and offering discounted and/or free services for a good cause," said Wayne. Stop by and welcome the new business owners to Excelsior Springs. For services call 816-900-1030.

Business of the Month

Business of the Month -
Broadway Bar & Grill
Cheryl Boos, Misty Wright and Lindsay Baxter are enjoying their work. The newly formatted "Broadway Bar & Grill" at 259 E. Broadway in Historic Downtown Excelsior Springs has the all the elements the community has been looking for in a single stop. This includes a broad new menu that is varied and designed to fit about any appetite large or small. In addition, it is priced right to make having a great meal affordable. "We wanted to give people choices they might not find locally but already like and choose when they go out for fun," said Cheryl Boos. Boos has revamped the entire business and the new menu is just the starting place. At least once a month, Broadway Bar & Grill has live entertainment and has been featuring local performer Kevin Cline and are looking to expand this to twice a month and eventually weekly as the business evolves with it's patrons preferences. In addition, they are working to include Line Dancing as part of the fun people can enjoy for a night on the town. "We are a smoke free establishment," said Boos. "We have a place on the deck where people can go to smoke and it provides a comfortable atomosphere for those who appreciate not having smoke as part of their entertainment and dining experience. We want people to be a comfortable safe place for people to come and enjoy themselves."
