MTA/NJ Attends American Boating Congress in Washington D.C.

The 2015 American Boating Congress (ABC) in Washington, DC wrapped up on May 13th and was deemed by all a great success. The ABC is an annual opportunity for the marine industry to come together in D.C. and use a united voice to educate Congress. It is also a great opportunity to network with other industry groups from around the country. A number of keynote speakers shared insight and expertise during the event. For more information, click here.

Executive Director, Melissa Danko along with MTA/NJ Board Members, Ray Fernandez of Bridge Marina and Ed Harrison, III of Baywood Marina, visited U.S. Congressional offices of Congressmen Smith, Pallone, and LoBiondo.  Ray Fernandez also met with Congressmen Menendez and Frelinghuysen. They spoke about the importance of the boating industry to New Jersey, the economic impacts and the loss of registered boaters in the state and the urgency to support the industry to help grow boating.  They also provided information about many national issues including Ethanol and Fisheries.  Click here for more information on all of the Policy Briefs from ABC this year.

Melissa Danko also participated in a number of industry meetings including the Recreational Boating Leadership Council, of which she is a member.  The Leadership Council's meetings marked concrete progress in strengthening industry advocacy, the promotion of youth boating programs and diversity in boating, and the marketing efforts of the Discover Boating campaign.  Melissa is a member of the Youth Committee, whose priority goals are to quantify and inventory existing youth boating programs to understand opportunities and needs, explore opportunities with existing and new high school level fishing and boating clubs, create an industry-wide commitment to youth programs such as Sea Scouts, share news with industry stakeholders regarding their work and identify areas of opportunity. The Recreational Boating Leadership Council is a group of leaders from across all segments of the marine industry working together to address growth challenges facing the marine industry.  Click here for more information on the progress of the Recreational Boating Leadership Council.

Melissa also attended a meeting of the National Marine Trades Council, which includes Executive Directors from Marine Trade Associations from around the nation. The group meets a few times a year to discuss Association issues and boat shows.

Advertise in the 2016 MTA/NJ Boater's Directory

Advertising in the MTA/NJ Directory is a great way to get your ad in front of thousands of boaters and potential new customers. It is more important than ever to take advantage of affordable advertising opportunities like this and promote your business! The MTA/NJ Boater's Directory (Membership Directory) is distributed all year long to thousands of boaters, fellow MTA/NJ members, hundreds of marine businesses, media, and many more. The MTA/NJ office receives daily requests for this handy boating guide.

If you would like to place an ad in the 2016 edition, please complete the Directory Advertising Form. The rates are low and the money you spend to advertise goes back into the boating industry to support the efforts of the MTA/NJ. The MTA/NJ Boater's Directory is digitally printed, which gives you the ability to change your ad throughout the year. Updates can also include a change in address, a new product or service, a special event, or anything new you want to advertise. In today's economy, it is important to get the most out of your dollars. Advertising in the MTA/NJ Boater's Directory will do just that.
