A New Year always brings reflections on what was accomplished in the past year and what new possibilities are ahead. As your new FPA of Pittsburgh President, I cannot be prouder of the achievements of 2012. The breakfast meetings and half-day conferences continue to be a staple in offering national-caliber speakers and education. Our October 18, 2012 Financial "Four"um brought together over 260 financial service professionals for a day-long symposium that was truly unique. Keynote Speakers like Natalie Choate Esq., Jon Delano, John Nichols, and Dr. Martin Murenbeeld entertained, educated, and inspired us.
2012 also marked the beginning of the FPA of Pittsburgh Saluting Service Award. The event was held on May 22 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum. This landmark event launched our community outreach and increased our public awareness in an unprecedented fashion. Nearly 500 attendees gathered for the picnic, musical entertainment, and first-class program. We honored 23 nominees that have bravely served our country and community. At the conclusion of the event we presented a $10,000 check to The Veterans Leadership Program in honor of the award recipient Mr. Thomas Fitzgerald.
The 2013 FPA of Pittsburgh Board of Directors is excited to build upon the momentum of the past year as we complete the planning and programming efforts. We ask that you join us once again for the breakfast meetings and half-day conferences. We ask that you support and promote the value of the Financial Planning Association. We ask that you put the following two dates on your calendars now.
