Two Librarians Retiring
Farewell to Sue and Cindy null
Two longtime children's librarians, Sue Hartley and Cindy Tencza, are retiring! There will be a  public reception in their honor on November 17th from 3pm - 6pm in the Mary Baldwin Room in the library. Please stop by and help us bid goodbye to two of our favorite librarians.
Help Us Honor Sue and Ciindy
Have you or your children enjoyed the Children's Room or attended some of the hundreds of storytimes and special programs presented by Miss Cindy and Miss Sue over the past 30 years?  Then please consider making a contribution in their honor towards the cost of this beautiful three-dimensional tree, which will go on the wall outside the Children's Room.  Designed by Adams and Ahern Sign Solutions, this will create a truly special and welcoming entrance to the Children's Room! Any amount welcome.  Please make out checks to the Cheshire Public Library Children's Sign Fund. Prefer to donate online? Click to the Donate to the Library link (also on the library's website in the footer menu) and select the Children's Room Entrance Sign.

Kudos to the Friends Booksale!
Thank you from the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library for making our semiannual book sale such a success and to the new sale directors, Deb and Tom Morck, for their energy and hard work. The October book sale was a great success, bringing in more than $6,000 due to a fantastic team effort. Many thanks to the faithful sorters who screen the incoming donations and categorize them on a daily and weekly basis. Thanks also to members who set up the book sale, staffed it, and then got the room back to normal. And a special thanks to the library staff for their patience with the extra noise and disruption.

Our Spring book sale is scheduled for April 29 to May 2, 2015.  Mark your calendars now!! Enjoy your reading and thanks for supporting your local library.

Vision Magnifier
Thanks to the Cheshire Lion's Club, we have a new magnifier for our vision-impaired patrons. The new Optelec Clearview Magnifier, from Vision Dynamics in Cheshire, uses video camera technology and replaces our older traditional magnifier after 15 years of hard use. The machine is available in our Reference Department.

Director's Message

This November we will be saying goodbye to two valued members of the library staff when Children's librarians Sue Hartley and Cindy Tencza retire. Between them, they have worked in the library for nearly sixty years! We are hosting a public reception for Sue and Cindy on Monday, November 17th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Please join us!

I also wish to remind everyone to take a look at some of the great digital services the library offers: Overdrive ebooks and audiobooks, OneClickDigital ebooks and audiobooks, Zinio eMagazines, Mobile Printing and more! Also, at the end of November, we will be adding Hoopla, a music, audiobooks, and movie service, to our online collections.

Go to our website cheshirelibrary.org to check out all of our online services.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
