Four Warning Triggers for Troubled Projects
Projects always involve some degree of change. New Product Development (NPD) projects involve risk in technology development and in market growth. Unfortunately, many projects fail.
The problem is that too many projects fail to recognize the early warning triggers (EWT). These triggers signal that an unpleasant event is about to happen and the project is going to cost more, take longer, or deliver less. Even in firms that insist upon project performance measures, stage-gate reviews, and progress status reports, projects can become troubled in short order.
