It is imperative that all students have a current 2013-2014 Emergency Form on file.  As we start field trips, off-campus events and sports, students will not be allowed to participate unless the school has this Emergency Form.  Please contact Mrs. Geneva Schafer at the front desk (x1304) if you need another form or if you are unsure if you have already turned in the 2013-2014 form.

Please join us for this wonderful family evening event! There will be yummy food, games, rides, bounce houses, climbing walls, bungee jumps, and many other fun activities for you to share with your child and the Fairmont community!

Community Service Opportunity
Our 8th Grader, Robert Dalby is organizing a community service outreach to donate old shoes to the less fortunate. He is asking you
to clean out your closet and donate old shoes (this is a great reason to clean out that closet!). Please bring in shoes between September 16 - sneaker.jpgSeptember 27 and place them in the marked bins in the front offices. Robert is a Quarter Midget Racer, and he is dedicated to helping his racing club donate over 1,000 pairs of shoes!  Junior High students will be given 1 hour of community service hours for every five pairs of shoes they bring in!

Preschool Grandparent's Day

Last Friday we had a wonderful Preschool Grandparents Day!  It was so heart-warming to see our youngest Fairmont students embracing their grandparents.  Our students enjoyed a yummy breakfast with their loved ones and then showed their grandparents what they are learning in school.  Thank you to all the grandparents who joined us for this special day.

Grandparents

Few can bring the warmth
We can find in their embrace,
And little more is needed to bring love
Than the smile on their face.

They've a supply of precious stories,
Yet they've time to wipe a tear,
Or give us reasons to make us laugh,
They grow more precious through the years.

Meet One of Our New Teachers!
Bethany Reed - Second Grade

Educational Background:
I received my Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton. I went on to complete my Master of Arts in Education, and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential through University Phoenix at the Costa Mesa campus.

Work experience: I have been working with children in a multitude of capacities for ten years. I originally began my career as a volunteer life-skills counselor for elementary school children living in stressful home situations. I progressed into private mentoring and tutoring roles, part-time teaching positions, and finally full-time teaching positions for both private and public schools throughout Orange County.

Hobbies, special interests: Bike rides with my husband at the beach, planned and spontaneous vacations to local destinations and afar, spending time with my family, photography, trying new restaurants, and devouring books of all types.

What motivated you to become a teacher? Teaching is a unique profession, in that those of us who decide to be here do so because of a very distinct calling. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, and pursued every opportunity that would allow me to learn and become the best teacher possible. I am motivated by the positive impact that teachers can have on their students, and I aspire to leave a lasting impression on the students that are in my class.

What do you love most about teaching? I love teaching because I am allowed to continue to learn and better myself as an educator every day. I have been introduced to spectacular students and learning opportunities that one can only experience in this profession. I enjoy creating exciting and engaging lessons that will encourage students to dig deeper, and pursue their inherent desire for knowledge. Every aspect of teaching is positive, and I look forward to every day that I am able to be in the classroom!
