Kinder Quilt
If you have a chance, please check out the very cute "Kindergarten Quilt" in the kindergarten hallway. All of our junior kindergarteners and kindergarteners made a "square" about themselves and our wonderful teachers put together this "quilt" about our special people!
Orange County Debate League Championship
I am writing to very proudly inform you of the performance of Anaheim Hills at the 2013 Orange County Debate League Championship Tournament that took place Saturday, May 4th. This event included teams from around Orange County, composed of more than 100 young people who debated in five rounds of fierce competition. This event was the culmination of a year of endless research and practice, and I hope that you can wish ALL debate team members, even those who did not win awards at this competition, congratulations on a job well done.
Please give a special congratulations to the tournament's second place team Ellie, Evan, and Thomas, who made it to the final "Public Debate." In this special event, the two teams who were undefeated (teams from Fairmont AH and Pegasus) faced off head-to-head on stage in front of over 200 people to decide who were the tournament winners. Despite not winning this round, Evan, Ellie, and Thomas showed excellent poise and skill. Please give them your congratulations!!

First Grade Music Program
"Sing Me A Song"
Last week our wonderful first graders entertained us with their beautiful voices, and we were thrilled to see how much they knew
about music! In their program "Sing Me A Song" the students had prepared three folk songs to share through the spoken word, song, acting and instrument play. These songs had been used in their music curriculum to teach concepts with beat and with rhythms in 2/4 meter.
The sound effects that we heard in the show
were all created by the students. They had to think creatively and work as a team to decide on specific sounds for specific parts in the story. Also, the stories are American Classics that help reinforce the student's Language Arts Curriculum.
FPA Field Day is Friday, May 31...FREE DRESS
Come ready to have a BLAST! There will be a great obstacle course and medals and snow cones!! Get set and go!
Summer Homestay Meeting
We are very fortunate at the Anaheim Hills campus to have the opportunity to share and learn with students from around the world. This summer, two groups of third-fifth grade students will be on campus for special language and cultural immersion programs. We would like to encourage you to consider hosting a child for a short one- or two-week stay this summer. It's an amazing way for your child to learn about the cultures and traditions of another country while sharing the American way-of-life with a visiting student. A group of approximately 30 students from the Fushan Elementary School China will be arriving July 20th and departing July 28th. Twenty students from the Edible Academy Korea
will be arriving July 29th departing August 10th. (This is the second group of students that has come to us from the Global EDU School in Korea. The first group arrived in January and was very well received by our students--they became celebrities on campus!)
This Homestay opportunity is unique in that you are only hosting a student for a one- or two-week duration. In return you will receive compensation of $55 per night.
You can find out more about Fairmont Homestay on Tuesday, May 21,2013. Mrs. Andrea Cribbs, Homestay Programs Manager,
and several of our current Fairmont Homestay families will be on campus from 2:30 - 3:30pm to share their experiences and
answer questions. In addition, feel free to contact Mrs. Cribbs at the Homestay office if you have any questions about this
upcoming opportunity.
