CHOC Toy Drive
Friday, December 14
This wonderful event is sponsored by Fairmont Private School and the OC Harley Davidson Owners Club.  On Friday, December 14 the Harleys will roar onto campus to the joy and delight of all our students.  We love listening and watching all the motorcycles roll on in to pick up all of the generous toys our students and parents have donated to the children who will be staying at CHOC over the holidays and the upcoming year. The patients of CHOC are so grateful for our donations, as they are confined to the hospital.
Donations are now being collected! All the toy donations must be new and unwrapped. A letter and "Wish List" from CHOC explaining the program is attached.  Thank you so very much for helping these children.

Honor Roll Assemblies
On Wednesday we celebrated the first trimester Honor Roll recipients.  Honor Roll is given to students achieving a 3.5 GPA and Director's Honor Roll is given to students achieving a 4.0 GPA.  We are so very proud of all our students because they all work very hard to earn this achievement!  A few pictures are on Flickr.

The December "Habits at School"
We are excited to kick off our new character development program based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People at School. For the month of December, we will be practicing the habit "Begin with the end in mind."  This habit means:
  • I plan ahead and set goals.
  • I do things that have meaning and make a difference.
  • I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school's mission and vision, and look for ways to be a good citizen.

We will continue practicing one habit each month for the remainder of the school year following this schedule:

January: Seek First to Understand Then be Understood

February: Synergize

March: Be Proactive

April: Think Win-Win

May/June: Sharpen the Saw

Technology Day

On Friday, November 30 all the Tec 1parents were invited to participate in their child's classroom technology lesson.  Parents observed a variety of lessons during this Technology Day program.  Promethean Boards, Neos, ActivExpressions and ActiveVotes were used to enhance the lessons and keep the children (and parents) engaged.  Junior High, Elementary, and Preschool classrooms were filled with parents anxious to learn.  Many parents were given the opportunity to actually weigh in on their answers with the ActiVotes and Neos!

In Mrs. Cornish's fourth grade classroom, she used her FPA-donated iPad to control her Promethean Board so she could walk around and observe her students working on their math lesson.  The students used their ActivExpressions to participate in a spiral review.  Mrs. Shaffer's fourth grade class used their Neos to work on their Math Facts In A Flash.  Preschool Room B students learned their letters and sounds utilizing Letters Alive Technology.  TEC 2

Many parents commented on how excited they were to participate and learn about their child's education and to visualize what their child learns every day.  Thank you to all the parents who joined us for this special event!
