 | 15th Annual Michael C. Rosano Golf Tournament |
 | |
Deborah Savaria, Chief Executive Officer, Jacqueline McQuay, RN, Chair of the Advisory Board, LifeChoice Trauma Program Coordinator, Hartford Hospital, Stephanie Johnson and Donna Rescorl, RN, Hartford Hospital |
LifeChoice held the 15th Annual Michael C. Rosano Golf Tournament at Blue Fox Run Golf Course in Avon. Over 20 years ago, Michael Rosano's kidneys failed permanently after complications from E-coli poisoning. After enduring 6 months in the hospital's intensive care unit and two years on dialysis, Rosano received a kidney transplant. Thanks to the generosity of a donor, Rosano is alive and eager to help others understand the importance of becoming a donor. Former popular radio personality and heart recipient, Beth Bradley, served as the event's Master of Ceremonies. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit LifeChoice in its efforts to provide excellent donor family support, community outreach and clinical partnerships. |

Kym's Kause
|
| |
Enjoying the ride for a great cause! |
In late September, LifeChoice partnered with friends and family of Kym Meyers, a college student from Enfield, CT who died waiting for a liver transplant, for Kym's Kause. The motorcycle benefit ride featured a poker run through sections of East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield and Stafford Springs, CT, raffle, food and entertainment. Funds raised at the ride will support educational efforts to increase the number of registered donors in the area in an effort to decrease deaths on the waiting list. |

LifeChoice volunteers crochet shawls for donor families, visit Motor Vehicle Departments to talk about the Donor Registry, share their stories, help raise the Donate Life flag throughout the donation service area, serve on the Donor Family Advisory Council and participate in educational events. In addition to fact sheets and brochures, schools were given a copy of "Your Decision to Donate". | National Donor Sabbath Celebrated November 9-11 |
Faith communities throughout the country recognized the gift of organ and tissue donation during National Donor Sabbath. All major religions support organ, eye and tissue donation as a final act of kindness and generosity. While religions differ, one of the common points is positive, inspiring messaging. Messaging that provides hope. By registering to be an organ, eye and tissue donor, you can provide hope to the more than 115,000 men, women and children currently awaiting organ transplants across the United States and the hundreds of thousands more in need of cornea and tissue transplants. To learn more about religious views and donation, click here. |
