Roasting marshmallows. Backyard barbecuing. Ice cream cones. Starry nights. Breezy-porch-summer-reads. No matter how you've been enjoying your summer, one things certain: we cherish our outdoor time. In fact, over 63% of architects have reported that outdoor living spaces are becoming the most highly sought-after 'special function room' in remodeling and/or new construction projects.

With the rise and dependence of technologies, outdoor living boosts nostalgia. Remember the days of front porch swings and neighborly visits. When did we get too busy to appreciate the simple things in life? Like a good book, a relational conversation, the smell of flowers and a morning cup of coffee? Is that really a thing of the past? With the increased rise of outdoor living spaces, homeowners are making a loud statement: outdoor living is just as important as indoor living.

Yes, blending outdoor living with indoor living may be trendy - but, it's a health-conscious decision too. Improved concentration, restored mental energy & health and reduced inflammation are just a few of the many health benefits to being exposed to outdoor elements. So, do your over-stressed brains a favor and soak in some rays, listen to the crickets chirping and breath in some fresh air.

This month we are featuring a newly completed sunroom. These large-format, porcelain tiles are on-trend with use of its gray color palette. Its wood-inspired graphic adds depth and an outdoor flair to its alluring visual. Porcelain tiles can endure the elements too, as many have a high water-absorption rating and frost rating. Plus, this clay-bodied beauty is non-porous... did someone say maintenance-friendly? I think so.

So, bring on the porch swings! Grab a friend... or a book and let us help you explore designs for your multi-functional indoor/outdoor living spaces. And to our techie clients - with the growth of mobile technologies, it's now easier than ever to entertain in any room of the house. #HappyEntertaining #RenovateAndRetreat
Flooring Tip of the Month

6 Tile Traits for Savvy Indoor/Outdoor Living Spaces:
  1. Abrasive. Well, not is personality... but, in texture ;) If not, abrasive - honed is a great option too.
  2. Non-porous options, as they provide ease of maintenance - especially, in lieu of inclement weather.
  3. Frost-rated tiles. Let's face it - we live in a seasonal environment.
  4. High-water absorption rating.
  5. Invest in the install. Right tile + wrong installation = failed floor. Don't skimp on your installation, as it's the most important step in creating a sound floor.
  6. Personality inspired. What do you want to feel from this space? Is it your man retreat, reading nook or pop-the-bubbly-with-girlfriends space? No matter the intention, matching the ambiance of the intended space will surely inspire.
