Could this backsplash be any more romantic? We can't help but fall in LOVE with this kitchen... hello, beautiful!

Carrara Marble. Crystal Chandeliers. Lace Mosaics. Complimenting Countertops. This kitchen's exquisite beauty is thoroughly enhanced in every detail of its space. There are three different shapes of stone utilized throughout the backsplash - a 3x6, mini-brick mosaic and lace mosaic. Yet, by using the same stone (ie: Carrara marble), it's effortlessly tied together - shape adds interest, marble adds elegance.

The homeowner opted to install a solid countertop on the perimeter, while choosing a multi-colored, rich-in-movement countertop for the island. This creates separation between the Carrara marble backsplash and granite island, minimizing any competition in movement. AKDO's Lace Curve Cararra and Turkish Gray accent mosaic (installed above the range) is as much fresh and modern as it is timeless and classic.

AKDO has continued to be a trendsetting leader in the tile industry, as they are very much attuned with the fashion world. Inspired by the dominance of lace on red carpets and magazine spreads alike, we begin to understand its influence on the coverings industry. By pairing an oh-so-timeless 3x6 marble with the stay-power of lace, this kitchen is stunning... and yet, FOREVER classic. Color, texture and design work in harmony - making an otherwise high-traffic area sweep you off your feet.

May your kitchen be seasoned with LOVE this February ;)

Flooring Tip of the Month
Easy tips about marble:
  • Seal marble! Sealing will reduce the chance of pigment staining.
  • Be gentle - clean with warm water and mild detergent that is approved for natural stone. Acidic elements will etch the stone, dulling the finish. This is especially evident with polished stones.
  • Purchase from the same dyelot!
  • Investigate your marble, prior to purchase. Fun fact - did you know that Carrara marble is from Carrara, an Italian city in Tuscany?
  • Know how to spot fake Carrara marble. If it's from China, it has more yellow to the stone and if it's from Turkey it will have grey smudges. Remember, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder ;)
