Mixing and matching isn't something that should be left to the wardrobe - in fact, let's bring this philosophy into our tile selections. Who says we can't combine polished with matte, texture with smooth or cool with warm tones? As we approach a new year, we'd like to share a project that bridges these concepts and inspires unique expression.
'Don't touch!'- well, that's likely written on signs as you peruse shops to find the perfect gift(s) this holiday season. However, when it comes to these stunning large-format tiles - please touch! Great design not only stimulates our visual senses, but our sense of touch too. The textured tile pictured above offerings a modern, yet practical design. Its matte finish creates a soft, intimate vibe while its decorative depth produces an unrivaled focal point. Its contours allow for smooth edges and a surface that's easy to clean. Not to mention, large format tiles offer less interruption - allowing this beveled pattern to play out freely. Plus, to create more interest, we've paired this matte, textured wall tile with a polished, marble-inspired floor tile. By tying subtle movement into the floor, we introduce a palette of soft whites and greys - creating a natural, yet sophisticated look that balances its surroundings.
In addition, we're visually highlighting the use of cool and warm tones. As you can see, much of our tile choices centered around greys and taupes. Pairing those aforementioned tiles with warm, dark cabinetry adds richness and a touch of masculinity. Toping it off (literally!) with Cambria's Castell quartz countertop. These gentle greys and hints of blue, white and chocolate brown flow effortlessly within the countertop, capturing all colors throughout its space. Equally 'cottage chic' as it is 'urban loft'.
So, what's your new year's resolution? Whether your style is traditional, transitional, contemporary or modern - don't be afraid to mix color and texture. 'Cookie cutters' belong only in the kitchen this holiday - so, have fun embracing what makes your style different. Time to think outside of the box... with tile!
Happy Holidays!
