Flooring Tip of the Month

Everyone LOVES the look of granite, but not everyone loves the maintenance of this natural beauty. Yes, granite is a strong, durable natural stone - but it does need a little TLC along the way.

Here are some helpful tips to keeping your granite pristine:
  • Make sure the granite slab is at least 3/4" thick to prevent breakage.
  • Seal granite after installation.
  • Use trivets, hot plates and coasters under any hot pots or pans to prevent scorching.
  • Use a cutting board when preparing food, as bacteria is prone to penetrating the pores of granite.
  • Do not use cleaning products that contain lemon or vinegar, as those acidic ingredients can cause stains and/or begin to etch away at the surface of the stone.
  • Be sure to blot up all spills immediately.
  • OR...consider using quartz countertops that will give you very similar, organic looks with none of the maintenance :)
