| Not Just for Bottles: Print on Glassware & Irregularly Shaped Items with the EasyCyl |
The EasyCyl has proven to be hugely popular for water bottle and glass bottle printing, but now users don't have to stop there. Printing to a slanted or non-level substrate can often yield poor results, so the new EasyCyl Cylindrical Adapter has been designed to lift and hold uneven* cylindrical substrates in a level position during printing. It's never been easier to print custom designs directly onto wine glasses, beer glassware and other irregularly shaped items – and the adapter can be attached, removed and adjusted from the EasyCyl in just a few simple steps!
Already an Industry-Best Application – Now Expanded Further
Simply put, you can now enhance your product offerings with something other UV LED printers can't provide when you couple this adapter with the EasyCyl attachment and compatible Direct Jet printers.
The EasyCyl attachment and adapter are compatible with:

* Please note: Conical printing over large areas using an inkjet scanning head is not possible and will result in poor print quality. All substrates should be tested for image receptivity, adhesion and durability, with final acceptance and suitability determined by the customer. Applications that include use within dishwasher environments should be tested for durability. |

| PRINTOVATORS™ – Erie Custom Signs |
| Fact: DCS PRINTOVATORS DO MORE with their Direct Jet UV LED printers. They develop more applications, produce more products and generate more profits. |

|
Erie Custom Signs, located in Saginaw, MI (USA) prides itself on the ability to fill orders from a single ADA/Braille sign to an entire hotel's worth of signs with remarkable lead times and complete customer satisfaction. All with the expected quality of signs made in the USA.
The company began as an engraving outfit in 1962, originally specializing in industrial tags. However, within nine months after Mike Shabluk purchased the company in 2009, Erie Custom Signs began to make ADA-compliant/Braille signage. Fast forward to 2013 and the company no longer produced tags and name badges, opting to chart a new direction with ADA/Braille signage production.
"We produced 25,000 ADA signs last year with the raster process and a 3rd-party company to digitally print logos and text on the signs," says Shabluk. "We decided to purchase the Direct Jet 1024UVMVP4 at the end of 2014 because of the white ink quality and digital ADA/Braille capability. The digital printing capability was something that we felt we needed to bring in-house to reach our full growth potential."
"We now have the ability to apply Braille dots to steel and aluminum signs," Shabluk says while identifying some of the benefits that his 1024UVMVP4 has provided. "Additionally, we have the ability to print wood grain and steel elements on a variety of materials. All of this is now quicker and easier than it was before, and our lead times shrunk."
With target markets that include sign shops, hotels, schools and healthcare organizations, the company expects 20% growth year-over-year moving forward. "We now do all of our ADA signs in-house," Shabluk says. "Fast turnaround and high volumes will win us the orders over the low-cost 'garage' companies. With our digital printing capability, we can turn signs around in a day in some instances. We have the equipment and materials on hand to make it happen. People will pay for that type of service."
Anyone familiar with ADA-complaint/Braille signage could not help be impressed with the sample gallery Erie Custom Signs has available on their website, www.eriecustomsigns.com. "We produce signage samples to help close the order," Shabluk says. "Bring your request to us – custom signage, wholesale signs, fabrication – we can handle it." Contact Mike Shabluk at mshabluk@eriecustomsigns.com to discuss how Erie Custom Signs can meet your signage needs. |

| DO MORE: It's More than Texture Printing – It's TEXTUR3D™ |
Most competing printers create a flat image with multiple passes of clear ink as a dome to give a texture appearance. Choose the Direct Jet UV for single-pass TEXTUR3D™ prints that will make your products stand out from the crowd.
Speed and Quality are the Keys to Success
Stop wasting valuable time waiting for multiple passes to lay down clear, white and color inks. Print any combination of two or three of RIP 9's groups of white, color and clear print head channels simultaneously, inline in a single pass.
Unique Process
Direct Jet UV LED printers and the included Color Byte software program use the tonal quality of the image to dictate the textured areas automatically. Additionally, the software gives the user a defined opportunity to manually select – pixel by pixel – the area to be textured.
All Direct Jet UV models have the TEXTUR3D™ capability.

| Technical Services Corner: Properly Using Your Maintenance Log |
The Direct Jet UV LED printer maintenance log is provided to all users to ensure proper operational function of their UV printer. It will also provide DCS technical support with a history to refer to if technical assistance is needed.
About the Log: The log is set up on a 3-month cycle (12 weeks). Each day has a series of tasks and notes to be completed prior to production, a notes section for mid-production and a series of tasks and notes to be completed after production has stopped for the day.
Using the Notes Section: The notes section is very important. This section is for anything that occurs that is out of the ordinary – e.g. nozzle drop-outs, head strikes, premature failure of parts, etc. This section will be examined very carefully by DCS technical support while issues are being assessed in-house. Failure to accurately complete the notes section could result in longer diagnosis time and, therefore, printer down-time.
Location of the Log: The maintenance log can be found on the FTP site and at the end of the Maintenance and Troubleshooting Guide for each printer.
Please contact techsupport@directcolorsystems.com with any questions. |
