Opportunity to Help with Research

at this year's

Hemi Foundation Conference

We have more new and exciting informations about this years conference.  EVERYONE has a chance to participate in research efforts this year; a chance to really make a difference!

You just need to give a little time, and a little blood to help the doctors and scientists for generations to come as they seek new ways to help our children.  It is optional, but we hope many of you will choose to participate.

Please see the letter below for details.

The RE Children's Project ( www.rechildrens.org), in partnership with the Hemispherectomy Foundation, is proud to announce that our second annual blood drive will take place during this year's Hemispherectomy Foundation Conference and Family Reunion in Baltimore, Maryland.    The blood drive will take place from 10:00 AM until 7:30 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Cab Calloway Room of the Double Tree by Hilton BWI Hotel.  We are interested in drawing blood from all of the families, not just those impacted by rasmussen's encephalitis.  We would like to draw the blood of your child as well as both parents.

Last year's blood draw, conducted at the Foundation's conference in Anaheim, California and led by UCLA's Neurology Team, amassed the largest cross-sectional collection of blood to date for diseases treated by hemispherectomies.  Our goal is to break that record once again as we collect blood from patients and their families.  The collection of blood as well as brain tissue is a major thrust of the RE Children's Project to facilitate genetic and other studies as to the causes of the conditions requiring hemispherectomies.  Thank you for participating.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Halls and the entire staff of the Hemispherectomy Foundation.   We have listed pertinent information below.  Please feel free to contact the RE Children's Consortium Coordinator, Joe Voros, if you have any questions or need any assistance.  We look forward to seeing you at the conference.

The 2012 Hemispherectomy Foundation

International Conference and Family Reunion

July 6th, and 7th, 2012

at

The BWI DoubleTree Hilton Hotel

in Baltimore, Maryland

You don't want to miss this year's conference and family reunion.  We have an outstanding group of speakers from Johns Hopkins, Kennedy Krieger, UAB, and a chance for YOU to ask the doctors questions in the Doctor's Panel.

The 2012 Conference will be a good time for the kids and adults alike.  Kids Camp will be available, so parents can enjoy the speakers without having to attend to the younger ones.

The conference will be a well-balanced mix of informative speakers, educational topics, and information geared specifically for families who have been impacted by Hemispherectomy Brain Surgery.

In a relaxed, family atmosphere, among other families just like yours, you will be able to learn from others who have walked in your shoes.

You will hear from doctors, experts, and scientists who are leaders in the fields that impact your child. Most importantly, you will meet new friends and see old friends who will walk the journey with you.

Make this trip part of a family summer vacation, or come exclusively for the event, but don't miss it.   This is also a great chance to schedule appointments at nearby Johns Hopkins, where your child may have had surgery.

Everyone is invited.  It doesn't matter whether you are from the East Coast, West Coast, somewhere in-between, or on the other side of the world, we want you in Baltimore in July.  The Hemispherectomy Foundation Team is putting together an affordable package so that everyone can make it.

Pleae register for the conference by printing off The Registration Form, filing it out, and mailing it in.

The Hotel Hemi Foundation Rate is no longer available.  You will have to pay full price if rooms are available.
