Measuring Results
Sinae Collecting Data 3
CMF is surveying teachers that have been working with First Note over the past school year. The survey is online and takes between 5 and 10 minutes to complete.

We'll be summarizing and posting results most likely in July. If you have been using the program and haven't received the survey, please contact us at info@cmfinc.org and we'll email the link to you right away!

The Case for Early Investment

We're often asked why CMF has chosen to focus on the earliest years of a child's education. It is because of the ROI!  That is when we can make the most significant impact on a child's future.  The data supporting this choice is overwhelming. (see graph).

Joel Ryan presented this information and more at a Rotary meeting last week, that includes some of the benefits of quality Pre-K programs over the long term:

  • Increases adult earnings by 7-25% and increases the chance that they are homeowners by age 27 by 3 times
  • Michigan's pre-k program, similar to WA, shows participants are 44% more likely to graduate from high school
  • At-risk children not afforded the opportunity to participate are five times more likely to be arrested repeatedly by age 27
  • Young women who have experienced a quality early childhood program are one-third less likely to have out-of-wedlock birth
CMF has the privilege o working with Joel and his staff. For more information on WSA Head Start (click here).

Joel Ryan is the Executive Director of the Washington State Association of Head Start and ECEAP (WSA) based in Bellevue, WA. Joel leads the advocacy and professional development work of the Association and has been at the Association for the past 8 years. Prior to that, Joel was the Government Affairs Director at the National Head Start Association where he worked as the liaison between the Head Start community, Congress, and the White House.

The Benefits of Music Education
By Laura Lewis Brown

Whether your child is the next Beyonce or more likely to sing her solos in the shower, she is bound to benefit from some form of music education. Research shows that learning the do-re-mi's can help children excel in ways beyond the basic ABCs (more).

More Coloring Book Drama

CMF encourages our teachers to send us their thoughts, observations and ideas on how we can improve First Note. One of our teachers noticed that some of the note stems in the coloring book are on the wrong side, and could cause confusion with the students.

The corrections have been made and are now posted on our website for subscriber download. Thank you, Rhonda, for pointing this out!

Miss Melody's School Visits

Miss Melody (Rachel Brackett) visited Meadow Crest Early Learning Center in March and led classes for more than 600 students over the course of the day (watch the video below).

For more information regarding her availability and fee schedule, please email us at info@cmfinc.org.
