Online Video Gains Traction

"The explosion in teacher interest and usage of videos and game-based learning could be a harbinger of a new awakening for digital learning." Some of the findings from the report include:
  • 68 percent of teachers now use online videos in instruction, up from 47 percent in 2010 (more).
Bringing Brain Science to Early Childhood

A group of scholars at Harvard University is spearheading a campaign to make sure the early-childhood programs policymakers put in place to disrupt intergenerational poverty are backed by the latest science (more).

Darrington Elementary a Winner!

An auction was held as part of the BRIDGES 2016 event, that featured many music-themed prizes, including a "Start Your Own Band" package of professional musical gear from Roland, including TD-11K-S V-Drums from the V-Compact Series, with headphones and an accessory package, an ELCajon EC-10 Electronic Layered Cajon, and a JUNO-DS61 Synthesizer.

The foundation also made a very special presentation of a second "Start Your Own Band" kit to Darrington Elementary School, a local school affected by the 2014 landslide tragedy in Washington State. Teacher Laura Goheen (pictured) - who is also a local musician and created an online musical fundraiser for victims' families - was present to accept the donation, and echo the importance of music programs and foundations such as CMF in the lives of children (see Roland press release).
