Students Visit the Huskies
Last month, a CMF supporter who also serves on the University of Washington Husky Band Foundation Board facilitated a visit from one of our First Note schools to a marching band practice. Here are some comments from the students:

There are so many people!"

"This is amazing."

"I want to be one of those drummers."

"That was the best thing on earth."

"This was so much fun. I hope we get invited again"

"It was the best thing I've ever experienced in my life."

"The piccolos are so cute."

"I can't even describe this."

"We get to put on the tuba? Oh wow!"

"Oh my God, this is so fun."

Thank You, Alvin Goldfarb
Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler is the latest supporter of our May 3, 2016 BRIDGES Benefit Gala. Thanks to their donation, CMF will be providing the First Note Music Program to several more of our most underserved students.

Happy First Note Grant Recipients

The State of Washington allocated grant funds to the First Note Music Program for the 2015-2016, and 2016-2017 school years. The current school years grant awards are completed and the program was provided to several classrooms throughout the state that demonstrated the highest level of need or are under-resourced. Some of the comments from recipient schools are listed below:

"Thank you for the phone message and email indicating that Olympic View Elementary will be receiving the First Note music curriculum.  I look forward to using it with my students!"

"Hello, Thank  you so much!!!! I can't wait! I know my other Kinder teaching partners would LOVE to participate in this as well if possible!   Thank you so much!"

"Thank you very much! I look forward to using the kit and strengthening my program. Thank you for the opportunity."

"Thank you so much!  We are so excited!"

"Nice to talk to you. Thank you so much for your time and energy into the arts."

"We are so pleased and very thankful to have this program at our school."

Instruments from 3D Printers!

Can you believe the instruments pictured above were made with a 3D printer?  They were.

3d printing may be at the earliest stages of changing music. It allows for easily made parts on demand, and the production of whole instruments without being an experienced craftsman and even go beyond what is possible with wood or metal!  Stay "tuned"...
