Dear Teacher,
 
 Hi, you don't know me yet, but I will be a student in your class this year. For the next nine months, you will be one of the more important people in my life, though I will never say this to you or anyone else.

On some days, you will be the MOST important person (more).

Budget Cuts Expected
 

  
A survey taken by Ed Pulse (above) shows that more than one-half of teachers expect their school or district to make budget cuts in the upcoming school year. Need to do more with less?  Try First Note!
 
 Teacher Shortages Spur a Nationwide Hiring Scramble
 
 
 
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - In a stark about-face from just a few years ago, school districts have gone from handing out pink slips to scrambling to hire teachers.

Across the country, districts are struggling with shortages of teachers, particularly in math, science and special education - a result of the layoffs during the recession years combined with an improving economy in which fewer people are training to be teachers (read more).
