First Note Joins SOAR

A message from Kristina Bellamy:

Greetings and WELCOME to the historic launch of SOAR Academy, one of the first charter schools in Washington state history and the first homegrown charter school in Tacoma!

I am both humbled and in awe of the warm welcome, excitement and energy that has been committed by so many in the Tacoma community to make this a reality!

I am proud to say that we at SOAR belong to, and serve, a community that is invested and committed to the education of our students. Among the most basic social justice issues of our time, I believe that access to quality education is a shared value in our community (more).

Early Start Act Signed Into Law

More Washington State children will begin kindergarten prepared to succeed following passage of the Early Start Act, sponsored by Sen. Steve Litzow. The landmark bipartisan legislation, which was signed into law by the governor today, will provide parents with access to high-quality early learning programs (more).
