Tribal Early Learning Center Adds Diversity to First Note

Cynthia Savini (pictured above) is the Early Education Curriculum Coordinator for the Muckleshoot Early Learning Center that serves the Muckleshoot community at large.  Their Head Start and Birth to 3 programs are attended by native children in the surrounding community.  The children are primarily from the Muckleshoot tribe but they also have students from the surrounding areas of the Northwest, such as the Puyallup and Yakima Nations.  All of the students are Native.

Cynthia is a member of the Makah Nation, located in Neah Bay, WA.  She is also Jamestown S'Klallam and Quileute. Her father and grandmother have done much to advance native education in Washington State. In her words, "I am proud to continue that tradition as Early Education Curriculum Coordinator for the Muckleshoot Early Learning Center".

CMF is excited to have Cynthia and her team of teachers adopting First Note to their young students!

CMF Welcomes Our Newest Directors!

The Children's Music Foundation is happy to announce the addition of Dana Pethia (left) and Eduardo Mendonca to the CMF Board of Directors.  Dana most recently served as Constant Contact's educational marketing expert in Pacific Northwest. Dana has over 20 years of experience in supporting small and large businesses. Her professional career in marketing has afforded her opportunities to work in both private and public sector and to volunteer her talents as consultant and board director for non-profits and great organizations.

Eduardo, a former high school principal, is a guitarist, percussionist, singer, composer, and director of "Show Brazil!" Eduardo provided a musical welcome to Pope John Paul II when the pontiff visited Brazil in 1980. He also played for Nelson Mandela's visit to Seattle in 1999. In 2007 he was named Outstanding Brazilian Male Singer Based in the United States.

Thanks to our Supporters!

Thanks to grants from both the Raynier Institute & Foundation and Tulalip Tribes (pronounced Tuh'-lay-lup), the Children's Music Foundation is able to offer the First Note Music Program to several hundred more of our most under-served students. Thank you both for your generous gifts!
