First Note Happenings

Donate Your Instruments and More!

Through the services of iDonate, it is now possible for the Children's Music Foundation to accept just about any donation that has value. Cash donations are certainly

welcome, though we have been receiving an increasing number of instrument donation requests, particularly pianos, that we can now accommodate.

Cars, unused gift cards, electronics including cell phones and more, can all be donated as gifts to CMF. iDonate takes care of all the logistics for us with locations throughout the US, turning your noncash donation into simple

cash donations from you to our Foundation.  Click here to learn more about your giving options with iDonate.

Thank You David Hay Family

Once again this year, the David Hay Family has made a generous gift to the Children's Music Foundation. CMF is fortunate to have so many generous donors that enable us to offer First Note to many of our under-resourced schools.

Headed to Brazil!

No....we're not going to watch a soccer match though there will be one going on the day we arrive!  CMF is honored to be invited to present our research findings to the Early Childhood Commission of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) in Brazil next week.

The Early Childhood Commission of ISME was founded in 1982 with the following vision:

"To share and to promote current ideas in early childhood music education which relate to research and to teaching, to assure every child's right to become musically responsive and thereby to enhance the quality of children's lives."

The intent of this Commission is to further the quality of research and scholarship in the field of early childhood music education and, through that, to stimulate thought and the practice of music in early childhood throughout the world.

Teach for America to offer First Note

Children's Music Foundation is excited to announce our collaboration with Teach For America (TFA) to make high quality music programming available to TFA corps members and alumni.

These teachers work in high-need communities across the country to ensure all students receive an excellent education - which includes arts exposure. Access to CMF resources is one tool to help TFA teachers create holistic learning experiences in their classrooms.

CMF receives gift of Spanish Music

Cristina Abaroa has generously donated all of the songs from her children's CD titled Chapis to be enjoyed and even downloaded for subscribers and purchasers of the First Note music program. Cristina has worked on projects with such greats as Plácido Domingo, Lady Gaga, Barry Manilow, Luis Miguel, Mijares, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Enrique, Julio Iglesias Jr., among others. This gift comes at an important time as many of our schools, clubs and daycare centers have increasing numbers of Hispanic students, and we've been receiving requests for sing-along music such as this. The songs will be up on the CMF website in time for the 2014-2015 school year. Muchas gracias, Cristina!
