CMF Welcomes New Orleans

Accompanied by board member Sayoko Kuwahara
(pictured above), the CMF Executive Director had the privilege of visiting one of our newest schools, Benjamin Banneker Elementary in New Orleans, last week. Principal Hiram Wade Bailey (pictured below with CMF Executive Director, Rourke O'Brien) was excited to begin First Note stating, "We are most impressed with the way the curriculum lessons are structured, one building on the next and covering an entire school year."

Principal Bailey is an accomplished musician himself playing the clarinet, trumpet, and saxophone to name a few.

Sir Ken Robinson is a brilliant orator - his first TED talk is the most watched of all TED talks. Sir Ken is back and his latest TED Talks Education speech is now online.  It's brilliant...and funny, and well worth your time. I hope you enjoy it!

All First Note Kits Now Include Online Access

The First Note Music Curriculum can be purchased in 3 different ways: 1) the Complete Toolkit (pictured), 2) The Basic Toolkit, and 3) Online Subscription. Now all 3 versions include access to the online version of the program.  In this way teachers can check out the next day's lesson or even several lessons anywhere and anytime they can get online. It can be accessed by most all mobile devices making the program even more convenient and fun for First Note instructors.

A teacher recently said, "My students want to sing the songs over and over again.  It's hard to move on to the next lesson!"

Fun Program Additions

Certificates acknowledging achievement are a source of encouragement for just about all students, but for our youngest students, they are particularly prized. At the end of each lesson, Miss Melody sings "Good-bye, see you next time, and always do your best". We believe that far too many students are rewarded for superior results rather than for doing their best which is something that can be expected from all students. If teachers choose, they can download the certificate above from the CMF website, type the student name in the center, and then print and hand to each student.
