Investing in our
Youngest Students
is a No-Brainer |
In a recent publication, Jonah Edelman,Co-founder and CEO of Stand for Children, makes the claim that funding early childhood education is a no-brainer: it's good for kids, families, schools, communities, and our future.
Long-term research on high-quality pre-K and early childhood programs finds that these programs improved students' learning, increased their education levels and income as adults. And in the short-term, we know that kids out of preschool develop better language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and have better social skills than similar students without preschool.
Instructor Manual Now Online

Things have certainly changed in just a few short years. CMF still offers the physical Instructors Manual in the First Note Complete Kit, but increasingly, teachers say they are okay or even prefer an electronic version (menu pictured above). We now offer the CD version that is included in both the First Note Basic and Complete kits!

Scope and Sequence

Our teachers have been telling us how much they like First Note, and also how important it is to be able to document the actual learning targets or Scope and Sequence of each lesson (click here for a 5-lesson sample). The Instructors Manual lists the Learning Targets, including the ideas (the goals or objectives) that will be taught in each lesson.
Disruptive Education Trends
In a recent article written by Ben Hecht titled 5 Disruptive Education Trends that Address American Inequality, he claims that the textbook will soon be dead, and that interactive multimedia materials are the future. As part of this shift from passive to active learning, many education technology products are becoming increasingly "gamified" to present curriculum in more dynamic, engaging, and familiar ways. We couldn't agree more, and for these reasons, First Note is designed with music games that students play among themselves while they interact with Miss Melody and their classroom teacher! |
