A Letter to the Yetzer Hora

Dear Yetzer Hara,

At the advise from Skeptical and Pidaini, I am writing you this letter. This is what I will be telling you when you come knocking again, and I know you will...you @#$%.

At first, I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking, I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong and I learned how to get along

And so you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sneaky look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I'd known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

Go on now, go, walk out the door, just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one, who tried to hurt me with your lie?
Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lie down and die?

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart

Addiction's Three Lies

The addiction always tells us lies. The 3 top lies he tells us are:

1) You need it

2) It's very important to have it

3) The desperate feelings you have now will last forever if you don't give in.

It's in our interest to recognize these 3 lies for what they are. They are not true!

1) You will do just fine without it.

2) There are MUCH more important things in life than lust.

3) You will feel very different than you do now in just a few hours, or (worst case) tomorrow when you wake up.

So don't fall for the addiction's lies! Just hold out a little longer and your vision will clear up. You will soon see these "excuses" once again for what they really are: LIES.

The Impossible

Sometimes, dealing with pornography addiction and compulsive masturbation seems an impossible task. The truth is, it is probably impossible for most of us to deal with these on our own. But even when we feel that we are truly alone and the task ahead of us is, indeed, impossible, it helps to keep the following in mind:

1. Difficult things take a long time; impossible things a little longer. (Andre A. Jackson).

2. Nothing is impossible. The word itself says: "I'M POSSIBLE" (Audrey Hepburn)

3. It's kind of fun to do the impossible (Walt Disney).

4. Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible (Francis of Assisi - author of the 11th Step Prayer).

5. So long as the man imagines that he cannot do a certain thing, so long is it impossible for him to do it (Baruch Spinoza).

6. Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don't. ... You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope. (John Piper).
