We would like to wish our long-time member Kedusha a heartfelt Mazel Tov on reaching 2000 sober days. Chazak Ve'Emotz!

I am deeply grateful to the RBS"O, to Guard, and to the entire GYE Chevrah, for helping me get to this point.
I daven that I not only continue to stay clean, ad meah v'esrim, but continue to grow in all areas of Avodas Hashem.
With my Tefilos that the entire Chevrah have Bracha and Hatzlacha in this area, and in all areas of Ruchniyus and Gashmiyus.

Attitude: Watching porn: Whom Am I Hurting?
Think that watching pornography is a victimless crime? Consider this:
I have past 100 days of being clean, BH. Hashem worked it out that I met a major ex-porn star in Los Angeles who is Jewish. She left the industry 6 years ago. She told me all the horrors of the porn industry, the fake promises that the production companies tell the performers, about becoming rich and famous, it's all lies. The abuses that go on in the industry are numerous. Most performers use drugs to get them through the scenes. There are numerous drug overdoses, suicides, car accidents involving people who perform in the porn industry.
When you watch pornography, you are contributing to the sicknesses and deaths of these people. You are playing a role in their demise and yours. Some of these people unfortunately are Jewish. Save your life and theirs, stop watching porn and return to Hashem!
I received it from the source, a Jewish girl who was there on the front lines, and she admits she had destroyed families, she had destroyed lives. Let's all do Teshuvah and pray for these porn performers who are lost, so they too can return to Hashem and start new lives.

On Reaching 2000 Days Sober!

Boruch Hashem, I reached the 2,000-day milestone today. It was especially meaningful, because we read today about how Hashem tested Avraham. We are tested all the time in this generation, which gives us so many opportunities to grow spiritually (of course, we need to be smart, and avoid tests as much as possible; indeed, we Daven every day that Hashem should not test us).
I recognize that, as has been said before, the main thing is not counting the days, but making our days count. Still, I find that counting my consecutive days clean gives me strong motivation to keep going. Indeed, it's very encouraging to break my personal record every single day! I just need to remember to take things one day at a time.
Rabbi Reisman recently gave a Shiur in which he discussed the importance of setting goals. He emphasized that, equally important, is setting new goals whenever we achieve our previous goal. In that spirit, my next goal, b'Ezras Hashem, is to be 6 years clean this coming Lag Ba'Omer (my actual anniversary date is May 18, which fell on Lag Ba'Omer this year; I spoke with Guard that day, and he agreed with my suggestion that, be"H, Lag Ba'Omer would be my anniversary date in the future).

What Did Shlomo Do on His Last Day on Earth?
In honor of R' Shlomo Carlbach's 20th Yartzeit
What an amazing story! We can all learn from this how it is never too late to do Teshuvah. When a person has a good heart and wants to be pure and bring others closer to Hashem, then Hashem will HELP him do Teshuvah!
