Category: Link of the Week

This time of year Klal Yisroel are preoccupied with Tshuva, starting with Slichois, going into Rosh Hashono and Aseres Yemei Hatshuva, and culminating with Tshuva shel Simcha, Tshuva meAhavo on Sukkos.

We thought it relevant to publish the link to Rabbi Simcha Feuerman's thought-provoking article on the topic, in which he ties together, in his artful manner, human psychology and Torah perspective on tshuva.

Recovery Football

By Cordnoy

Football is a game played by men
Gotta run, hit da ground and get up again
Preparation durin' the week is a definite must

- and so it is with recovery from lust.

Gotta shvitz, gotta train, muscles to build
Otherwise, you gonna get killed
Guys on the other side can be pretty tough

Scrownin' and growlin' their looks pretty gruff

If you ain't prepared and you're just skin and bone
Da coach (memories) will bench you - you'll be sittin' alone
you go on that field with a sly silly smile

Cornerback will kick you - for at least half a mile

And so it is when we wake up each morn
And that desire hits - I wanna watch porn
Are you prepared? Did you work on the steps?

Or were you preoccupied with women and sex?

The ultimate goal is to score a touchdown...

Spirituality vs. Religiosity

My spiritual life has changed in the last few years.
--James Casey

Most of us have expanded our understanding of "the spiritual life." We may have grown up in religious homes. That wouldn't be unusual. But now we realize that didn't necessarily mean we were encouraged to be spiritual.

Being spiritual means believing we have an inner voice that is eager to offer us guidance whenever we are at a loss about what to do.

Practicing a spiritual life also relieves us of the burden of worrying about the future. We know it will take care of itself, in the same way we'll be taken care of.

As we move through life, we continue to be confronted by conflict and problems over which we have no control. That's the learning curve, nothing more. We'll always be on this path. The good news is that our response to the struggle will change in proportion to our willingness to seek God's help.

Will I do my part to open my eyes wider today?

This Rosh Hashono, zochreinu l'chaim!

By Habib613

Last Rosh Hashana, I davened that Hashem should let me die. Literally. I was saying, "Zochreinu lechaim" but crying, "No, please don't, because I can't live with this anymore". I wanted to serve Hashem, but it was just too painful to wake up every morning.

So this year, more than anything else, I don't want to be in that place of despair again.

R' Guard - I seriously envy the Olam Haba you are getting for starting GYE. It's one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and I think a lot of people feel the same. Thank you!

Submit your testimonial.

We are looking for testimony from recovering women, in particular (but not exclusively). This disease knows no gender bias, and we'd like to carry the message of hope to women of all ages who still suffer. Please share your story with us.
