Last week we had decent riding weather one day and our first official snow accumulation the next, signaling to most of us the end of the riding season. My opinion is that once the roads are salted and sanded a couple of times it is time to store your motorcycle or scooter. I try to avoid riding in compromised traction conditions and spraying corrosives all over my two wheeled friend.
On Friday, we had a customer named Dave come in and proudly show us that he had passed a significant milestone with his Thunderbird SE, which has been thoroughly customized to suit his riding style. You will see in the photo that his odometer was displaying 50,330 miles! Dave bought this bike from us only a little over a year and a half ago. Clearly this man loves to ride!
 Dave is a great example of someone doing what he loves, riding a motorcycle, as often as he can. Dave retired from his service in the police department and now spends many of his well earned retirement hours on his Triumph. Dave's high mileage also reinforces the notion that our modern motorcycles are built to ride as much or as little as time allows. We have a customer nearing 100k on his Ducati Monster, without any major repair work. Meanwhile most of us are happy to cover three or four thousand miles each year. We ride when we can, but with the quality of our bikes today riding them too much just is not a factor to be considered. |
