On Strike?

On Thursday, June 19th more than 40 members and guests attended the FLIPP (Future Leaders of Promotional Products) Bowling & Volunteer Appreciation event at Franke Theatres & Cinebowl in Delray Beach, FL. Participants had the opportunity to network, eat, drink and show their bowling prowess!

Members who have volunteered on committees were awarded with a GCPPA logoed Portfolio. The FLIPP Committee intends to make this an annual event as suppliers and distributors alike enjoyed themselves immensely! We hope YOU can make it next year.

To get involved in the FLIPP Committee or any other GCPPA Committee please contact Kelly Wilson, Executive Director, at 561-367-7836 or [email protected]

Prepare for the Fall Trade Show Schedule and Build Your Brand!
With the number of upcoming trade shows that may be on your fall schedule read on for helpful hints that can be of benefit while walking the show floor:

1.  Be a subject matter expert- don't shy away from telling someone about your unique niche.  Don't assume that everyone already knows that about you
or your brand.
2. Have your 30 second pitch down - What has happened recently at your company? What great product or service news do you have to share?  When you are asked a question from someone like "How's Business?" be prepared with a succinct answer. Everybody wins then!
3. Bring business cards--such a simple thing and yet people don't necessarily feel the value anymore. It is still the most tried and true method for getting a callback though! Face-to-face greeting, exchange of cards, follow-up when you get back to the office--simple!
4. Get involved sounds simple enough, but you really do get out of what you put into something.  GCPPA has a strong 28 year history because the people (that make up the fabric of the industry and the Association) care about what happens to the industry, to its people. Take the time to have a voice and then use it!

5. Have a promotional strategy before leaving your office--did you check the GCPPA website to view the list of suppliers that will be exhibiting? Did you make of list of "must sees"? Did you commiserate with your customer on important products to view before the show? Make the most of your trade show experience
 by coming prepared!
6. Have a post event plan in place. Get any new contacts? Send them a follow up email. Write a thank you note. Connect with your new contacts on LinkedIn. Start following a company. Post to sites with your valuable opinion.

All of these ideas, though fairly simple, are often overlooked.
If you choose to accept the challenge, you are bound to bring your A-game!

See you Thursday, October 2nd at the GCPPA Fall Tabletop Show!

Cloth Promo logo Member Spotlight with Jared Opper, Cloth Promotions Plus
Treasurer of GCPPA Board of Directors

1. What do you do and how long have you been doing it?

Whatever it takes! We want to be known for producing and developing the highest quality microfiber products.

I am proud to help lead our family owned company into our 7th year in the advertising promotional industry.

2.  What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is coming up with new and creatively different solutions.
At one point people thought we were crazy to create a company just selling microfiber cloths.

3.  What have you learned through your professional work that has helped you also in your non-professional life? Time is a finite resource. We must always value everyone's time, both in business

and in life.

4.  What keeps you motivated to stay in our industry?

The ability to be creative and do whats never been done.

5.  What professional goals does your company hope to  accomplish in the next 5 years?

Improve in every aspect that we can, always listen to our customers.

6.  Are there any downsides to the career you've chosen, and if so how do you deal with them?

There are no downsides, just many many sides. Take every negative experience and turn it into a positive learning experience.

7.  Who has been an influential teacher, mentor, or model to you, and what did you learn?

My parents took the time to teach me to always treat people with respect and dignity.

8.  What advice would you offer other entrepreneurs in our industry?

Any day could be the day that one new idea can change everything.

9.  What business book, website or podcast would you recommend?

www.clothpromotions.com, just kidding! (Not really)

10. What is a quality you greatly admire in others?

The abilities to be honest and be yourself.
