SEA VIEW PROPERTY?
Over the last 10 years our experience and requests from buyers usually starts with "we would like a property with sea view" being the most popular request. Phuket has grown enormously since then when buyers even requested "beach property"! Hotels resorts have swallowed up any beach-side land that was available and now land prices near beaches are prohibitively expensive for single buyers looking to buy or build a villa. So what is left in the way of "sea view" land or property? First you must understand what is the definition of "sea view"? This could be anything up to several kilometres from the sea and the need for binoculars! Generally, the further away the lower the cost. Even sea view near or far is mostly gone except for some off plan condos and resale property.
As a long term expat living here, many of us question the desire or need for the "view" as after awhile you find you hardly notice what you have paid an arm and a leg for!
There are many, many wonderful properties inland and within a few kilometres of the beach (there being over 25 gorgeous beaches on Phuket. You are near a beach and spoilt for choice wherever you decide to buy.
Phuket Island is tropical, mountainous and lush with beautiful flora and fauna and the more inland you go the more wildlife and relaxed atmosphere are to be found. It is no coincidence that the best secure gated community projects are found inland at affordable prices with beautiful gardens, and inviting pools!
So why pay over the odds for "sea view", when you can buy/rent a delightful 2/3 bed villa near to all amenities, restaurants, bars, cafes, convenience stores with many local expat communities for under 10m THB (buy) 50,000 THB p.m. (rent). Remember Phuket has modern infrastructure, 1st class health care, international malls and schools and everything is 25 mins from everything!
