PNWA Mission to Washington a success!
Last week, over 65 of PNWA's members and partners met up in Washington DC for our 2014 Mission to Washington. Throughout the program, participants were able to share information and ask important questions to key federal and industry partners. We also spent two days on the hill, meeting with members of the Northwest Congressional Delegation. The agenda and copies of speaker materials will be available on PNWA's website in the next few days.
This year our Taste the Northwest Reception was attended by over 450 partners and guests! We are so grateful to our sponsors for all of their support as well as an amazing spread of donated foods and beer.
Thank you sponsors!

PNWA congratulates Don Mann on his retirement
PNWA congratulates Don Mann on his retirement from the Port of Newport. Upon his retirement, Don has completed 38 years of working in Oregon's port industry promoting economic and community development. Don joined the Port of Newport as General Manager in January 1996. Previously, he worked for the Oregon Economic Development Department, first as a technical assistant for the Ports Division, later as the Ports Division Manager, and finally as a Regional Business Development Officer for Clackamas and Hood River Counties. Before working for the State, Don managed the Ports of Siuslaw and Brookings Harbor. Don has held leadership positions with the Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters and Port Managers, the Oregon Public Ports Association, the Governor's Solutions Advisory Committee, the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce, the Newport Rotary Club, the Special Districts Association of Oregon, and the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County. Don also served as President of PNWA from 2007-2009. He also spent four years in the United States Coast Guard, where he skippered a 40-foot search and rescue boat in Los Angeles/Long Beach, California, and also served on the icebreaker Coast Guard Cutter "Glacier".
PNWA thanks Don for his leadership in the ports industry in Oregon, the region and throughout the country. In particular, Don has helped to lead the charge for Oregon's small coastal ports, not only for federal funding but for recognition of their great impacts on their local and regional communities. Don has also helped transform Newport, OR during his tenure, by attracting business to the region and making the Central Oregon Coast a premiere marine technology cluster. The PNWA membership and staff are proud to call Don a friend, and wish him the very best in his retirement.
