Shutdown ends, government funded through January 15th

Yesterday, the federal government ended its 16 day shutdown with an agreement to fund the government through January 15th and extend the debt ceiling through February 7th. Federal employees are able to return to work as of today, October 17th. PNWA will be reading through the short-term continuing resolution (CR) signed by President Obama last night and will alert our members to any notable items included in the bill. We will also continue to track delays to Northwest projects, and inform our affected membership.  We have already been alerted that there will likely be impacts to projects of interest to PNWA members.  As federal staffers return to work and assess funding and timelines, we will keep you informed.

House will take up WRRDA next week

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has announced that the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA, H.R.3080) will be sent to the House floor next week for consideration.  All amendments must be submitted by October 22, and floor debate is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, October 23rd.  PNWA will be reaching out to the Northwest House delegation to encourage them to support the bill.  We will continue to provide updates on the process as the bill moves forward.
