This year's event will be located in beautiful La Conner, Washington. The conference will take place at Maple Hall. MARAD accepting applications for Small Shipyard Grants Program
The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) is now accepting applications for the Small Shipyard Grants Program. There is currently $9,457,986 in grant funds available for capital and related improvements to qualified shipyard facilities.
In the past this grant program has been highly competitive and resulted in grants averaging $1 million each. For more information click here to read the notice announcing the program. Interested parties must submit their applications before May 28th.

Upcoming public meeting regarding TWIC Reader Rule - May 2nd
The public is invited to attend a meeting with the U.S. Coast Guard regarding a new Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) reader rule. The newly proposed rule would require certain types of vessels and all Group A facilities to use TWIC readers, but would allow Groups B and C facilities to continue spot checking TWIC cards (previous proposals would have required all types of facilities to use the readers).
