PNWA members deliver policy and funding messages in Washington DC
Over 60 PNWA members spent last week in Washington DC for the 79th Mission to Washington. Participants spent the week successfully highlighting the association's highest priority policies and projects for navigation, hydropower, surface transportation, and trade.
The Mission featured speakers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Bonneville Power Administration, American Association of Port Authorities, and House and Senate Energy & Water Appropriations Committees, among many others. PNWA members also met with Members and key staff from all 23 House and Senate offices from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho over two days on Capitol Hill.
PNWA's Taste the Northwest Capitol Hill reception proves to be more popular than ever. Northwest ports, growers, fishermen, and manufacturers donated the very best foods and beverages from our region. This annual showcase of the finest Northwest products provided a terrific opportunity for several hundred attendees to celebrate the very best of our region.
This year's Mission to Washington has provided an excellent starting point for what will certainly be a challenging year for federal funding. PNWA's members and staff will continue to focus their efforts on projects and policies to improve the economic efficiency and environmental sustainability of the Pacific Northwest. Please plan to join us at our Summer Conference in La Conner this June, and our Annual Convention in Portland this October!
