Funding Available for Emergency Needs of Nonprofits

Funding is now available to address short-term emergency needs of nonprofits through the Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) grant round at the Vermont Community Foundation. With a relatively small amount of funding, SUN grants help an organization address an un-budgeted, unforeseen, and time-sensitive emergency.  Read more about SUN here.

Community Health Centers of Burlington (CHCB) Ranked #1 for their Housing First Program

United Way Member Agency Community Health Centers of Burlington recently received the highest performance ranking during HUD's funding renewal.

CHCB's Safe Harbor staff provide Housing First services to support homeless patients who have complex medical conditions and/or face barriers to remaining housed.  Once placed in the program, CHCB helps locate housing and then provides intensive support services with a social worker and other clinical staff to ensure the patient's medical problems are responding to treatment and that they have the skills to remain in housing.

United Way of Chittenden County provided $104,000 in funding to CHCB this year to support access to health care under our Health Impact Area.
