  • Minitex, in partnership with the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) & Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS), has received an IMLS Library Leadership grant. This grant will enhance SimplyE, an open source e-reader designed specifically to streamline and improve the e-book circulation process for library patrons.

  • Personalized Learning Summit, Aug 1-2 at Chanhassen HS.  The Summit is a collaborative effort of the Eastern Carver County, Eden Prairie, Edina, Farmington, St. Louis Park, Westonka school districts. 
  • A new State Services for the Blind video Promotes the World of Books to spread the word that reading is for everyone, & people with disabilities have the same right to access print as everyone else. The short video shows how Minnesotans are enjoying books through the Communication Center & the National Library Service for the Blind & Physically Handicapped.
  • EdCamp is returning to St. Cloud on Jun 8 for round 2. Free to attend. Learn about EdCamp here.

Until May 15, you can submit nominations for ITEM awards for Library Media Specialist, Media Assistant (adult), Technology Support (Tech Integrationist, IT Support, Tech Director), and Administrator (Principal, Superintendent, etc.). Winners are announced in June & are invited to accept their award during the Friday lunch of the Fall Conference. Nominations are open until May 15.
  • Registration is open for ITEM Fall Conference, Oct 13-15 at Minneapolis Marriott Northwest. There is still time to submit proposals for breakout session around the Conference theme Innovate | Integrate | Motivate. The lead presenter of each session may choose either a $50 reduction in their conference registration cost or a free one year ITEM membership.
