School districts or buildings are invited to apply to offer MILI in the 2016-17 school year.

The Metronet Information Literacy Initiative
(MILI) offers school districts a year-long training that helps media specialists & teachers integrate the teaching of research in their instruction.

Media specialists & teachers are introduced to tools & concepts related to managing research, reliable resources, & responsible use. The curriculum for the current academic year is found here. There are two sections: MILI for secondary schools (6-12) & MILI Jr. for K-5. Districts can choose to do one or both.

The program begins with a two-day training in August, then each month from Sep through May Metronet provides a 30-minute webinar on that month's topic. Each month teachers & media specialists attend a 2-hour after school session to learn more about the month's concepts & tools & receive hands-on help. Teachers blog a minimum of twice a month to document their learning.

Participating districts provide an incentive--hardware, Board credit, CEUs, or another offering--that encourages teachers & LMS to attend & complete the program. Metronet provides the training sessions & support for the district & teachers. More details about the shared responsibilities & collaboration can be found in the MILI agreement for 2015-2106. There is no charge to the district or school for the training. Note that the MILI program is available to individual school buildings. A minimum of 15 participants is required at either the district or building level.

If you are interested in learning more about participation, contact Olivia Moris, MILI Program Manager, for more information.  olivia@metronet.lib.mn.us or 651.646.0475.
