Teen Lit Con 2016 Authors Announced!
We know this is news you have been waiting for, so here it is. The author line-up for Teen Lit Con on May 7, 2016! Headliners- Neal Shusterman, author of 2015 NBA Young People's Literature Award winner Challenger Deep.
- Jason Reynolds, author of Boy in the Black Suit. All American Boys, co-authored with Brendan Kiely, is on the PW Best YA Books 2015 list.
- Faith Erin Hicks writes comics & graphic novels. The Adventures of Superhero Girl won an Eisner Award in 2014.
- Sabaa Tahir is the New York Times bestselling author of the young adult fantasy An Ember in the Ashes. It's been optioned for a movie.
Local Authors
- Pete Hautman returns! His most recent book is Eden West. Pete won the Young People's NBA in 2004 for Godless.
- John Coy, author of Crackback & Box Out, has a new book Gap Year coming out in 2016.
- Derek E. Sullivan's first book is Biggie. He's from Nebraska.
- Monica Ropal When You Leave is included in the Publisher's Lunch BUZZ Books 2015: Young Adult Spring.
- Dawn Kiehr writes young adult thrillers: The Cutting Room Floor & If You Wrong Us.
- S.A. Bodeen published two new books in 2015 Lost & The Detour. She has 5 previous novels.

- Jenny McElroy, a reference librarian at Minnesota Historical Society Gale Family Library, is a 2016 ALA Emerging Leader. She is sponsored by MLA. Jenny represents special libraries on the Metronet Board & is serving her second term as Board President. Congratulations, Jenny!
- Marlene Moulton Janssen, Director of the Anoka County
Library, will retire Dec 30. A reception will be held Dec 30 from 9-11am at Northtown Library.
- Gail Peloquin is retiring after 45 years of service at Hamline University Bush Library. Gail held several roles during her tenure with Hamline including circulation librarian, access services coordinator, and interlibrary loan coordinator.

- Applications for The Big Read are open. Programming Librarian, Nov 6.
- The LibraryAware Community Award emphasizes the library's engagement with the community & will recognize a library or library system that has demonstrated its ability to make its community "aware" of what the library can do for it--& has delivered on that promise. The award will be given by Library Journal. Winning library will receive $10,000. Nominations due Jan 25, 2016. Details here.
- A one-hour discussion on Landing Your Ideal Library Job will air live at 2 pm Eastern on Thu Dec 10. This free streaming video broadcast is brought to you by American Libraries. It can be viewed from your home, library or on the go. ALA, Nov 13.
- The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation funds mini-grants up to $500 for public schools and libraries to implement a proposed program. Mini-Grant programs may take place inside the classroom or out in the community and they bridge disciplines and grade levels from preschool to Grade 12. In honor of Ezra's 100th birthday, the Foundation is calling for all Mini-Grant proposals submitted through Mar 2016 to have a Keats theme. Details & how to apply are here.
